BULLETIN: Dems committed to seating Fla. delegates

Dems committed to seating Fla. delegates - Decision '08 - MSNBC.com

Quote:
WASHINGTON - Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean said Wednesday the party was committed to seating Florida's delegates at this summer's convention as long as any agreement is supported by the party's two presidential contenders.

Dean met with Florida lawmakers to discuss ways of allocating delegates among Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton and prepare for the fall campaign in the battleground state.

The party stripped Florida and Michigan of their delegates to the national convention in Denver because they ignored party rules and moved their primaries to January.
Of course, now, they want to seat delegates. The Democrat Party appears not to care what it takes to get Shrillary there at this point.

If Obama won those two states, does anyone think there'd be any discussion about this?

So, they've put Barry in the position of either agreeing to ignore the rules of his own party (yeah, that'll go over well), or "denying the people's will" by stifling their votes, when he didn't bother to even get on the ballot because their votes wouldn't count since they didn't follow the rules.

This is funny as hell! They can't seat 'em and have any respect for following rules, and they can't NOT seat them and show any belief in democracy. They've painted themselves into a corner, damned if they do, damned if they don't!!!!

And you know either way the Democrat Party is going to point the finger at Obama.

John Edwards needs to sue the party and Dean. Who knows, he could still be a contender today if it weren't for those primaries.

Now he just needs to find a money hungry ambulance chaser to handle the lawsuit. Think he knows any?

So...

...the DNC is changing the rules in the middle of the game? Is that right?

The rule has always been that Hillary gets the nomination. For some reason the unwashed masses thought they had a choice.

Shame on you Andy. You only offered half the story line:

Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean said Wednesday the party was committed to seating Florida's delegates at this summer's convention as long as any agreement is supported by the party's two presidential contenders. The story isn't very newsworthy without the second half of that declaration.

There is no way the candidates will agree as they are at opposite ends of the spectrum. The only way counting MI and FL will help Hillary is if the MI vote is counted as is, meaning she wins on what's been called a Soviet-Style ballot. She can negotiate on FL's vote, but Obama will get nearly as many delegates as she would if FL is counted as-is, so that won't help her, and a re-do of the election won't help her either as she can only keep Obama locked out of MI delegates if the vote is left as-is.

On the Obama side, they will only support a re-do of the election, or giving him the "Undecided" votes from MI that were largely seen as being for him, and Hillary refuses to support either of those two options as she gets no gain from them.

Obama, Hillary, and Dean can talk all they want about counting every vote, but in reality it is Obama and Dean who actually want to do that. Hillary is pushing for the tarnished votes to count and is opposed to letting every vote count, which is why rather than ending this debate very quickly by agreeing to a re-do, she's instead opposing a re-do and going to the convention in the hopes of forcing the credentials committee to seat the delegates based on the initial vote.

Apparently I did offer the full story line.

You did... but your title was "BULLETIN: Dems committed to seating Fla. delegates", which is a bit misleading.
