Unhappy 26 States do Not tax Retired Military Pay...

Maryland is not one of them...Interesting tax stats link below.

Retired Military Pay
Some states provide special tax benefits to military retirees. Others simply follow the federal tax rules. The states that do not tax retired military pay are: Alabama, Alaska, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky*, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi*, Missouri*, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina*, Ohio (tax year 2008), Oregon*, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Maryland does allow you to exclude the first $5,000 or military retired pay. Started with the 2007 tax year. At least it's a first step.

...btw, great link, thanks for posting it.

My hubby just told me that some states don't charge Veterans vehicle registrations fees (California is one of them)

Another reason why, when the time comes, we'll pull up stakes and move. It's a shame, I love our property here and Maryland is a beautiful state, but the inmates are in charge and I can ill afford their insane spending habits.

What's keep'n you here now? Not trying to be a smart a*s about it. I read a lot of MD bashing in these forums but people are still here. If I thought it was really that bad, I would pull up the stakes and move now. MD must be doing something right or there wouldn't be anyone here.
