Facts is facts.
I don't know that I believe it will be just black people who are upset if Obama doesn't get the nomination. I think there are just as many white people who are out there voting for him.

I think a lot of people will be highly upset if Hillary gets the nomination because they are just sick & tired of her butt and there may well be a LOT of protesting. But not just from black people.

It is obvious that many blacks feel there is some truth to the whole 'the man' thing and that's not unreasonable in a nation that not only was founded on white superiority, but just loves the issue to this day. It sells.

People like Wright mean what they say, are passionate about it and have an audience that likes the whole oppression business, never mind the pews are full of MBA's, CEO's, lawyers, doctors, political leaders and Harvard graduates enjoying preachers who live in multi million dollar homes and so forth. This is a cause, just like the environment, gay rights, abortion or any other big name issue in American politics. Causes need tending or they die off. They don't need to be right or just or past expiration date. They simply need support and they live.

The problem is that Wright is no longer on the periphery. We're seeing that Obama could NOT distance himself and denounce Wright because of this seriousness of cause; it would be like Pelosi denouncing San Francisco or W denouncing the religious right. You can take exception here and there, but you can not bite the hand that feeds.

The fact is that blacks are not racists in the sense of historical white racism which was white superiority. They are not black supremacists. They are, however, racial in the sense of feeling owed and are happy to use race to achieve goals. Wright is not about to let the moment pass in such way that all he's worked for is suddenly invalidated at the grand moment because it might be making the champions tie feel a little tight. That's why he said he's going to come 'get' Obama if he wins. He's going to come and remind him of all the injustice's, real or perceived, and all the conversations about remedy and how to fix things.

Moments come and go. This may be the last opportunity for a black liberal to get this far. Blacks are falling behind Hispanics and Hispanics don't give a crap about slavery. This is an epic moment in politics because of that; the immovable force of the BIG opportunity of a liberal black going all the way meets the immovable object of the Clinton's determination to reach their goals back-dropped against fleeting opportunity.

Dean and company know damn well Obama's candidacy may well implode at this rate yet they can not dare pat Obama on the butt, tell him nice game and send him to the bench. And Hillary and Bill's power comes from one and only one thing; winning. She loses and it's likely over for her to ever reach the White House. Dean has to deal with that, Obama's tenuous position and the simple fact that Hillary, with all of her negatives, is nowhere near as big a gamble as Obama is; he's on the verge of being a lame duck who MUST win the nomination yet can NOT win the race.

The expiration label on reparation politics is growing near precisely because of the ascension of Obama. If he loses, the post mortem will be he was too liberal, not too black. Most on the right already believe race and gender are dead as causes. We'd all vote Condi tomorrow. Obama's liberal/left heritage is coming home to roost.

Damn fine political age we live in. Only in America!
I agree with everything you said. Unfortunately all that logic doesn't count much in politics.

Here we go into phase II of the Wright Effect. I heard numerous times today, allegations that attacks on Wright are nothing more than attacks on black churches, I heard that on CNN, FNC, NBC, and ABC. These allegations were made by Wright (of course) plus any black leader who could get in front of a microphone. And, right on his ill-timed cue, McCain decided to come out today with his anti-Obama/Wright statements. So they have succeeded in planting the seed that this isn't about Wright but about black churches.

Now, here's how phase II is going to play out. The media is going to start saying "Are attacks on Wright actually attacks on Black churches?" and you're going to see more and more print and electronic media outlets asking the most biased people for their opnion on this matter. More and more blacks will say they are, more and more whites will say they aren't. What's more, the blacks will all be labled as "church leader", "church official", "black church official", etc., while the whites will be labled as "Conservative commentator", Conservative leader", "Republican pundit", etc. That will make this all into a conservatives/Republicans vs. Black Churches just in time for phase III to start.

...the vast right wing conspiracy at work again. So vast that, as usual, the media and the left side of the spectrum players do just what we want them to do.

Let me tell you this much; if there is a vast conspiracy, it sure as hell ain't right wing if we use right wing accomplishments as the barometer of success.

Been watching the news this morning? The "buzz" question is, no surprise, "Are attacks on Wright really attacks on Black churches?" Who's doing exactly what who wants them to do???

Wright said it about 3,000 times in his speech yesterday - it was almost certainly going to be picked up and bandied about. None other than liberal Fox/NPR dude, Juan Williams, said that it was horse#### and scoffed at the notion.

So although the usual cast of characters is making hay and rousing the rabble, I do not believe intelligent, mainstream blacks believe this. And I think it hurts Wright to keep repeating it, and by proxy it hurts Obama as well.

First, Juan Williams is 100% in the Hillary camp and has been opposing Obama on every issue.

Second, I agree with your assessment.... for now. You know how Democrats work. The dumbest always go first, and as the critical mass grows, the more educated ones go along. And I'm telling you... if after more than a month of coverage of this, Obama moves up over 16 points in PA and eight in the national polls, this issue is only going to damage Obama in the minds of Republicans.
