Voting for Obama to "teach the country a lesson" is stupid.
As usual, you completely miss my point due to your ODS. You're right, I and others could sit the election out, write some BS name in, etc. Now tell me... what good does that do? Nothing... zip... nada. I could vote for someone I like... if someone I like was running... and after Thompson dropped out there was no one I could support.

So, what can I do with my vote that will accomplish something besides try to make myself "feel good" by wasting my vote? Well, I can ensure that the weakest and most inept guy gets elected. This will ensure he doesn't see a second term. I know you guys are all "hopeful" about McCain, but I think I know this guy pretty well. Within four years I'm going to be reading all sorts of whining about McCain's guest worker program, his selling out to the House Judiciary Committee on Federal judges, his appointment of O'Conner Part II to the Supreme Court, his allowing capital gains taxes to go up, his signing of "compromise" gun control bills, etc. I know that as sure as the sun is going to set tonight. So... what do we do when it does? Well, some Republicans, the ones who believe you must support your sitting President will support him, the moderates who are worried about losing the White House will support him. And what happens to conservatives? If we fight to get the assclown out of there, we fracture the party. That's never a good thing. What happens if Obama gets in there and screws things up just as badly as McCain will? Well, the Democrats will suffer the same problems we would face with McCain, and it's their party that will fracture.

So what you view as the moral low ground, I see as using my vote to ensure the strategic success of the party, rather than blow it trying to get a short-term tactical victory that I'll regret later.

Speaking of McCain, what makes you think that our gun rights are going to be one bit safer with him than with Obama? I guarantee you that Chuckie Schumer has a laundry list of gun laws just waiting to hit the books after November of this year. It seems like ever since he got the nomination, everyone suddenly has forgotten what a RINO McCain is! They all seem to buy into McCain's primary conversion to conservatism and want to fool themselves into thinking he really has changed. He hasn't! A RINO is going to make concessions with clowns like Schumer, and that's another guarantee.

For me there is are two fundamental questions for this election as I see no difference between McCain and Obama. Those questions are A: who will be the easist to unseat in 2012, and B: which party will suffer the most problems when that happens? I for one do not want to see the Republican party rip itself to pieces to get rid of a horrible POS President McCain in 2012 when we can enjoy watching the Democrats rip themselves up defending a POS President Obama.
I would rather have someone I suspect will make concessions than someone who is working hand in hand with the moron Chuckie Schumer to do away with the 2nd Amendment.

Sure Mccain is a RINO I havent heard anyone in these forums who claimed different. But he isnt the total liberal freak that Obama is.
With McCain it isnt good with Obama its guaranteed to be friggin horrible.

At least you have the option, and it sounds like you were carrying for the wrong reasons anyway.

Here's what will happen:

Obama wins: Schumer will start pushing for outright bans on guns, and Obama will support that legislation. Republicans and conservative Democrats in the Congress will oppose and the bills will not pass.

McCain wins: Schumer will start passing less sweeping anti-gun measures that are those typical feel good-accomplish nothing bills he loves so much. McCain will demand some changes to be made, but in the end he'll support them. The middle-of-the-road bills will be opposed by Republicans, but there will be just enough wiggle room for conservative Democrats to support them. The bills pass.

You're right. The main reason I got a CCP was just because I could get one down here. And there are lots of folks I know who have them who did the same thing. You hear all about crime and criminals, but the truth is that 99% of us are never confronted with a life or death siutation where we'll need immediate access to a gun. Then it all becomes a question of if all the hassle and discomfort is worth preparing for that 1%?

I had a CCW in NH and PA, and probably carried about 70% of the time that I COULD (still couldn't carry in a Gov't car).

It was nice to know I had the option to carry when I travelled into high crime areas or just less desirable areas, which I did.

And your entire reasoning begs the question, Do you wear a seatbelt?

Personally I'd like to have the option to have it and not need it, then for someone to tell me I can't have and need it.

...is a little simpler;

I'd rather have the choice than for someone to tell the bad guys I can't.

Is this the same Bruzilla who was upset about Republicans crossing over and voting for Hillary Clinton?

Those are two different issues. I too would rather have it and not need it than not have it when I did need it, but I've just never needed it. As to your second point, I always hated someone telling me I couldn't have one.
