Good news for Dems: GOP is falling apart

Heh, being seen with President Bush is supposed to boost your popularity?

What fking planet are you living on???

Shellshocked House Republicans got warnings from leaders past and present Tuesday: Your party’s message isn’t good enough to prevent disaster in November, and neither is the NRCC’s money.

The double shot of bad news had one veteran Republican House member worrying aloud that the party’s electoral woes — brought into sharp focus by Woody Jenkins’ loss to Don Cazayoux in Louisiana on Saturday — have the House Republican Conference splitting apart in “everybody for himself” mode.
....
With internal polls from both parties showing the race as a tossup, the GOP is putting on a full-court press. The White House has dispatched Vice President Cheney to Mississippi to campaign on Davis’ behalf. And Wicker, Lott, Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) and Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour will hold events for Davis this weekend and early next week, according to GOP sources.

House Republicans will hold a rally with President Bush on Wednesday morning, with all 199 members invited to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. to show solidarity with the president, according to GOP sources.

Yeah, I know I'd hate to be in the GOP's shoes with how well the Democrats are doing!

They have TWO candidates, each that 50% can support! What more could a party ask for

Ahh... just speaking for myself, I would take the candidate with 50% support and over $400 million in donations over the guy with 65% support and on the verge of going broke due to lack of support.

For once I agree with you. The GOP is the party that desparately needs to overturn the will of the voters and install a candidate who can win.

It's clear that you believe that. However, weren't you going to show me how the 50% guy had a voting record that was not strictly partisan and liberal?

I wish all Republicans thought as you did. Dems need more delusional Republicans. They make such easy targets!

Why would I? You already proved it by posting that list of bills he got through in the US Senate. I didn't see anything on that list that looked overtly Liberal - did you? Of course, I noticed you opted to not post what bills he wrote in the Illinois Senate... but those don't count to you I suppose.

No... I am standing quite comfortably in the 3' end of the pool... fully secure in the knowledge that I have maintained the highest standards of the Republican Party, have drunken no Clinton-aid, and will be able to hold my head up high in the future when all the crap that "Republicans" like you have tossed around comes back to hit you in the face.

When you all are crying about attacks on McCain about his ties to nutty ministers... when you all are crying about those horrible attacks on Cindy McCain... when McCain goes nutty during the campaign... when you all are crying about how the MSM is exposing all sorts of dirt on McCain... when you vote for The RINO even as you say "I don't like him but I'm voting for him anyway" and you get moderate judges, gun control, mandatory carbon credits, and a guest worker program if he wins... I'll be ready to come on here and say "I told you so!"

...throw me in there, too, with one very large difference; this is a conservative issue, not a GOP issue. John McCain makes a great GOP candidate as did 41 and as 43 turned out to be.

When Obama wins, as Bru has promised me, the policy differences will be one of semantics. Bush's tax cuts became rather pointless when spending was pushed to new heights. It's kinda like the hamburger stand handing out all sorts of money back coupons while raising prices across the board.

Obama will raise taxes yet that may set the stage for much tougher fights in congress over spending proposals as Republicans suddenly find their conservative, small government roots and begin, as a whole, to fight for long lost, long set aside principles.

Conservatism gets people elected and makes good government. When we, the people, forget what got us there, we all pay the price. The bill has come due.
