I keep hearing about how Obama should be worrying about the WVa numbers (which is a joke) but I think McCain should be the one doing the worrying after that primary.
You might want to check the DATE on those. They took place last February.

Also, the Republican primary in WVA was a convention. Numbers are always less in those.

The PRIMARY vote totals were different (they had both, just as in Texas). Those totals went:

McCain 89,661 76%
Huckabee 12,171 10%
Paul 5,912 5%

Did they just change to a caucus for this election?

No, they had both of them - actually, the Feb event was a convention.

The primary results you gave aren't the ones from last night.

Okay... looking at West Virginia Republican Primary | Campaign 2008 | washingtonpost.com, they have:

West Virginia Republican Convention Results

Mike Huckabee 12,171 10%
John McCain 89,661 76%
Ron Paul 5,912 5%
Mitt Romney 5,188 4%
Rudy Giuliani 2,831 2%
Alan Keyes 1,427 1%
Jerry Curry 726 1%

So now I'm totally lost.

No, just that if you go back to the page you originally quoted from, it will show data from the Democratic Primary - last night - and data from the WVa Republican convention - dated Feb 5. I have no idea why they didn't post the totals from last night.

I think I saw the same link you went to - linked from Drudge. I was mystified on how only about a 1000 votes went for Republicans in a state that frequently votes Republican, so I checked.

Some states had both caucuses and primaries - which is how Obama LOST Texas, but came away with more delegates, because while he lost the primary, he won the caucus. Sucks, doesn't it? Clinton wins Texas by 100,000 votes, but Obama gets more delegates because he won 5,000 more votes in the caucus.

So where did the votes on the ABC News page that Drudge is linked to come from? Are you saying there was a Republican Caucus and a Primary like Texas had? Also, I can't find much of anything about a WV caucus.

When in doubt - try Wiki

West Virginia Republican caucuses, 2008 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Their main Republican primary page lists a convention, and a modified open primary 18 delegates for the first, 30 for the second.

Feb 5 for the caucus or convention
May 13 for the modified primary

Not that makes a lot more sense

Yes it does. I knew there couldn't have been a 99% drop off. My sense of reality is restored. Thanks Sam.

So we're back to realizing that the only person this was bad news for was Barry (well, and his supporters)?
