So Dixie, you're a smart person who typically engages your brain and doesn't just knee-jerk. How does Rove perceive Americans, and what is it you dislike about him?

Sad to see that Rove is sliding down hill. This whole line of attack failed miserably during the recent interim congressional elections. Maybe if he would attack Obama on his liberal policies rather than something that doesn't seem to resonate with voters, he would have better luck.

Well, according to you, nothing Obama does resonates with voters.

But that's what he does. He's not an elected official or cabinet member - he's a hired gun, who is paid money to help a candidate get elected. James Carville is the same way, as is Begala or Dick Morris or any other political consultant. It's what they do for a living.

Well, recent attacks on Democratic congressional candidates using Obama and Rev. Wright and the San Fran "bitter" comments went over like a lead balloon and the Republicans lost HUGE in solidly Republican districts. So you tell me... you think that line of attack is the right one?

...Boehner, in an effort to, I guess, 're' brand the GOP, is out running around saying they, congressional Republicans, have learned their lesson back on '06 and they're going to get back to being real Republicans. At this rate, as George Will said today, it looks like the brand is going to be 'New' Coke.

Which no one wants.

I doubt that's why Republicans are losing. If they'd get back to conservativism, I'll bet they'd win.

Personally, I think Democrats can do whatever they please and the MSM will convince people like you that it doesn't matter and that's just the Republicans being mean. And when Barack Obama is your president that YOU supported, you will never hear the end of it.

Promise.

Yes I know that's what he does, it's how he goes about doing it - don't like Carville (and you say Rove is weird looking) for that matter either, nor Terry McCaulife (really butchered that one) but particularly Rove I guess - he never seemed to stop dividing once Bush got into office and I will admit some of my dislike is his looks - you how you can look at someone - and you judge them even though you know you shouldn't? He's lived up to what I expected based on his looks alone and odd how this word elitist is used now - Karl Rove back in the day to me was a typical elitist.

...she scores.

It's that simple. The problem starts when the commitment to being conservative about government runs into the allure of having so much power. Republicans failed the test, miserably, for six years. It's amazing; you run as a conservative, you win as a conservative, you govern differently, you get thrown out on your ear and you wonder why. Now, sadly, the mantra of conservatism is starting all over again.

This is why strong leadership is sooo important. Bush barely even acknowledged congress let alone lead them past the temptations. Of course, that's just as well. He doesn't seem have a single conservative governing impulse anyway.

And if a Republican gets elected to office this time around, he will govern not with conservatism, but half and half.....or who the hell knows what will come out?!! You vote for someone because you think he/she is a conservative and then when an issue comes around they take the most liberal stance on it. So who do you trust?
