Farm Bill gets the axe?

Fact Sheet: Congress' Farm Bill Is Bad for American Taxpayers

Gotta love our Congress. How can they try to push something like this through? And they are working for us!

I gotta give them a little credit for forcing Feinstein to take her guest worker program for illegals, that she slipped in there, out.

Here's a good one:

Quote:
The farm bill not only fails to reform the sugar program but actually increases government intervention to drive up sugar prices. This law would support sugar at nearly double the world market price and control supplies to assure that domestic growers meet 85 percent of domestic consumption. Any excess supply, which could be available for food production, would be owned by the government only to be auctioned to ethanol facilities at a huge loss.
And I've read somewhere else that the ethanol facilities don't even use the sugar. Auctioning off sugar to ethanol companies at a huge loss and they can't use it? WTF is wrong with this picture?

Didnt Bush veto this bill?

If he vetoed it, it must be bad.

Too bad he didnt find that veto pen when McCain and Feingold passed the CFR.

Big fiasco.
Bush vetoed, congress over ruled, then they find out the the bill presented to Bush was missing 34 pages.
They had to start over

I just can't believe the crap Congress is trying to slide in with this Bill. And the taxpayers are coughing up the money for it.

I find it interesting that they say net profits are up, considering that fuel prices, fertilizer prices, and chemical prices have increased exponentially along with commodity prices. Every farm I've spoken with has said their net profits are not any higher than years before. I just hope we don't have another drought year like last year....they'll be behind again.

Nope. You know, we're seeing an increase in beans this year due to the high wheat prices.
