| Having recently taken both a Sociology and an English writing course at CSM, I can attest to a huge liberal bias in the classroom even at this level. For instance, in the English writing course, the reading assignments were almost like a liberal primer. Almost every excerpt or article was about a liberal cause. The Sociology and Technology course was the same way, almost the whole text was based on the assumption that technology was evil, humans were a plauge upon the earth. The good things wrought by technology and science were hardly mentioned. To be fair, the instructor was open-minded, and willing to listen to alternative viewpoints, but most of the students themselves were like a mob at times, wanting to shout down or insult any ideas besides what they believed. |

| Students already tend to be leftist. It's like a belated form of negativism they show as toddlers, where the answer to everything is "NO!". Everything their parents taught them is wrong, America is not the land of the free and the home of the brave - everything they thought they knew is wrong. There's no absolutes, no right and wrong, no restrictions. It's what happens when kids first start to make adult decisions for themselves - their first reaction is to reject the ones made for them already. Leftism typically appeals to those who don't have a lot of money and to those who have more than they need because the government is going to give them what they want at no cost to them, and it's going to take it in small amounts from the very wealthy who aren't hurt by it at all. |

![]() My English professor, yeah we did politics assignments here and there but he was very fair about it. Yeah, he was left-leaning, but it's not like they completely filter out objectivity. You hear both sides of everything somewhere or another.

Let's look at what issues are important to college-aged voters: Oil and gas prices and the need for alternative renewable resources of energy, the enviroment, the economy, gay marriage and equal rights, healthcare (to a minimum). They don't care too terribly much about the war in Iraq, they don't care about social security. And, we (The Republican Party) have been on the wrong side of most of these issues for far too long, especially on gay marriage. We believe in restricting someones' rights to a government entity. That does not go over very well with college-aged students. We don't look like the party that represents the interests of the Constitution or the interests of freedom anymore. ![]()

| Nor should they be. Catering to parasites isn't in anyone's best interests, unless you want a bunch of parasites hanging around. Although I would argue that the Reps are indeed trying to cater to liberal infants, it's just not working very well for them because they're losing their base in the process.

Conservatives have the right agenda. Liberals are at fault (indirectly) for why gas prices are so high, and that's what's hitting college students the hardest. But we've had Bush the last 7 years talk about freedom, and then suggest things such as the Patriot Act and banning gay marriage. Talk about hypocrisy. ![]() I don't view Bush as Conservative, I see him as a hawkish neocon. That's the problem the Republican Party has though, we are right. We are right in saying it's not the government's job to regulate gas prices or find alternative sources of energy or bring down tuition costs. Right now, the socialism message appeals to college Democats because there's no other message out there right now. We need to call the Democrats what they are, socialists. Then we need to explain the consequences of living in a socialist state (best example for this: Good ole' Maryland). The Republican Party has not done a good job with that though. ![]()
