Who says these banner ads aren't educational?

I just learned Sen. John McCain finished 894 out of 899 in his class at the Naval Academy.

I guess he was aiming for the class: had McCain finished only 5 slots lower, he could have made himself a cool $898 from his fellow middies!

It was funny when the libs started on Bush being stupid only to find out his grades were better than Kerry.

Looks like this time they may have a point......as meaningless as it is.

That would translate to the top ten percent of any respectable college in the world and his degree is in Aerospace Engineering from the prestigious US Naval Academy!!!

Oh and lets play down his follow on intense training as a fighter pilot!!!

Not to mention a Masters Degree in Strategic Studies...

NObama is a lawyer, a very trustworthy profession...

Since you are so knowledgeable, maybe you can explain to me how a guy who finishes 5th from the bottom of his class manages to get orders as a jet pilot? Those are always the first orders to get picked, yet somehow a set of the most valued orders gets ignored by all those guys above him and are still available after most everyone else has picked. How did that happen? I guess it was just another of those one-in-a-million freak occurences that seem to always happen to McCain right? I mean... it couldn't have been that his Dad pulled some strings for him?

Then your brave fighter pilot (actually an attack pilot) manages to crash two planes during training. Big surprise... As Dennis Miller once said "you give a monkey a gun you can't blame the monkey for shooting someone." You give a guy with McCain's record of following orders a plane, you can't blame him for crashing it. Guys like Pete will jump up and say "that doesn't prove anything! Lots of guys crash planes in training!" Yeah... they're called washouts and failures... not graduates. I knew hundreds of pilots when I was in the Navy, and oddly enough none of them had crashed even one plane yet alone two... but maybe that's because they weren't at the bottom of their academy class either.

Maybe you can also explain how it is a guy who earns over 100 demerits for being dirty, disrespectful, or otherwise breaking rules, every year for all four years at the USNA, manages to graduate at all? No one else who was on the Century Club list lasted two years... yet McCain somehow manages to stay in with four years of undistinguished service as a midshipman. Now how can that be? Another miracle I guess.

Not everyone at the USNA becomes a pilot in the first place, different degrees and career fields as well as others who selected the Marines. Also after any plane crash he would have gone to a mandatory administrative hearing to determine what caused the accident, obviously he was cleared!!!

You also need to understand back in the day when McCain was a combat pilot, he didn't have the luxury of modern avionics which can launch or land a plane from an Aircraft Carrier without pilot intervention. Back in the day, the planes were also bigger, heavier, and not as sophisticated being launched from Carriers that were much smaller and had less safety features.

Last, just because someone has a pick over you at pilot orders doesn't mean he will pass the medical screening to keep those orders. I know many book smart people who were straight "A" students but in the fleet lacked the motor skills to effectively do a good job in their assignments. So please, sell crazy somewhere else, I'm all booked up here...
