McCain Attacks Bush's Iraq Policy & 'Budget'

Just pick this one up:

During a speech in New Orleans, Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain attacked President Bush's policies on the Iraq War, deficit spending and treatment of enemy detainees.

McCain also took credit for the current troop surge, which is having some limited success in Iraq.

McCain seems to think he is running as a Democrat.

Maybe he is.

His surge statement really pisses me off! He didn't call for the surge. He had always had issues with Rumsfeld and he wanted him gone.

Condi Rice was the one who came up with the plan for the surge. She tried again and again to push the plan through Rumsfeld, but he didn't want to hear about any ideas that involved more troops. She finally back-channeled the idea to Bush during a Camp David meeting and Bush decided to override Rumsfeld's veto. All McCain did was get up before the Senate and say he supported the idea.
