I see... so you just can't bring yourself to admit that you are wrong. All you can do is come up with more names to call me. That's sad. How did you ever last 23 years in the Navy... if you ever served at all.

No, I'll only admit my grass was long and your rhetoric was insignificant!!!

Sorry, you got me, McCain and I never served, we have been exposed...

Oh and it was 24 years of non service!!!

No, what I am really asking is, as the military was being drawn down, why does it matter what the promotion status of a post-CO officer was? An injured one at that. Now, again, if he'd had nothing to do since then, it may matter. But, a long trail of accomplishments and votes since then tells us who he is now. Please back any of this up, or understand why it would be summarily dismissed.)
His military service, like his HS record or his political record, are not sole sources of credibility, but they are indicators of how the guy conducts himself. As to what he had done as a congressman or senator, can you think of one bill he wrote prior to McCain-Feingold? Before he ran against Bush in 2000, McCain's singular claim to political fame was being a member of the Keating 5. It wasn't until after he came out against Bush, and the media elevated him to a household name, that he started getting taken seriously outside of Arizona and the folks protesting his throwing roadblocks in the path of finding out what happened to all the POW/MIAs. And what has he accomplished since 2000? Well, he finally got McCain-Feingold passed into law after seven years of failing to do so, we got the Gang of 14, we got McCain-Kennedy, and now McCain-Lieberman carbon caps. The guy has managed to give the Dems most of what they wanted, but what has he done for Republicans?

All that is 100% accurate and fair criticism of Obama. He does have a record of abusing drugs, he does come from a highly dysfunctional family, and he has never been determined by the Navy to be fit for anything. So what does that have to do with McCain? I understand what you're trying to do, you want to take attention away from McCain's faults by spotlighting Obama's but that doesn't make McCain any better of a person or change the fact that the Navy gave him a chance at being a leader and found him wanting. So go ahead and attack Obama all you like, but that doesn't change McCain's history.

I can't sell you on Barr, only you can. Speaking for me, I like Barr because he was always one of the reddest Republicans in the Congress. He was also the staunchest supporter of the 2nd Ammendment that I ever saw in politics, which is my litmus test issue. What's the most important to me is he has also been consistent throughout his career. He has never waffled on any core conservative value. He's been pro-gun, anti-immigration, anti-abortion, pro-freedoms, pro-military, etc. all his career. I know that when I vote for Barr, that I am voting for someone who will look out for conservative values and not trade away my gun rights to Chuck Schumer in the name of protecting a false Maverick status or in the name of unifying the country.

If you want to take the word of a guy who has a well-documented track record of betraying his friends, of changing his positions to score political points, or outright lying about things he has said, go ahead and vote for McCain. Just don't go whining about what a traitor to republicans he is if he gets into office. I may lose with my vote for Barr, but at least I'll have a clean concious and know I didn't sell out my beliefs.
