Well, it actually isn't quite more than I can say...I'll let you know in four years when I graduate. Then I can be as smart as him automatically, right?

Anyway. I've never thought he was unintelligent. I think some of his kindly bumbling antics and speech flubs are put on to make him seem more like just "a simple guy" to connect with viewers of his speeches etc. Very clever guy.

If, and that's "if you graduate" not "when you graduate" (you'll hopefully learn about the difference between certainty and speculation at some point during the next four years... Bush did graduate - you might graduate) from Yale, then yes, you will be as smart as him IRT that particiular aspect. Please let me know when you finish your fighter pilot training and I'll move you up another notch.

By the way... how unintelligent are you if you think that saying someone isn't smart is somehow not saying they are unintelligent? Exactly what institute of higher learning are you going to? Most reputable schools would say that not being smart and being unintelligent are the same thing.

By the way... being as you are a relative youngin', let me explain something to you. You will never, ever, be smarter than Bush. That's not a dig at your intelligence, it's just that however much knowledge you accumulate, Bush will have accumulated about 30 years more than you have. For example, if you're so smart how did you celebrate your 40th birthday? You don't know as you haven't experienced your 40th birthday yet, but Bush has. In the same vein, as smart as I get I'll never be smarter than my dad. Now if you're just starting off to college, I doubt that pearl of wisdom will mean anything to you... but in about 20 years you'll see the logic of it and realize that knowing everything you know isn't the same as knowing everything there is to know.

Oh of course I know the difference between "when" and "if" in terms of attending a college versus actually graduating from it. My first comment was not intended to be connected to my second point. I dislike it when people use the stigma attached to a school like Yale to assume that a degree from there means everything in the academic world, especially since Bush attended years ago when it was much easier to get accepted for legacies, but that's another bitter story entirely. People from Virginia Tech have probably received just as good of an education as people at Yale, and people who go to Yale have to earn their positions in the world and workforce just like everyone else. It's what you do with your degree that matters. Yale is the "institute of higher learning" I am attending and I made that comment to defend my school. That's all.

...When did I say Bush wasn't intelligent in my post? What I said was that I think, in order to appear less "elite" and connect with a base of people that would be more comfortable with a president that appears to be just a simple, good ol' country boy, he puts on (as in, purposefully) performs a lot of the little speech flubs that people are always pointing at as evidence of his unintelligence. I mean, look at what happens when you let yourself look too educated in politics - you get labeled an elite, like Kerry, the Clintons, Obama, even McCain for his Naval Academy affiliation, Bush Sr to a certain extent. I didn't say that he was actually unintelligent enough to say things like "Many of our imports come from outside the country." I said that he's clever enough to make himself appear simple and retain quite a bit of support. *shrug*

Edit: I realize that I now open myself to all kinds of "elitist snob" comments. Use sparingly.

Your initial point was "Who are you to say he is smarter than me? Just because I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth and coddled by Daddy! That makes him smart? Like I said the man can't even form a sentence. Take your blinders off idiot!" Now, I never went to Yale, or any college for that matter, but I am smart enough to know what you wrote was not "I think, in order to appear less "elite" and connect with a base of people that would be more comfortable with a president that appears to be just a simple, good ol' country boy, he puts on (as in, purposefully) performs a lot of the little speech flubs that people are always pointing at as evidence of his unintelligence." In your next post you wrote "Anyway. I've never thought he was unintelligent." Again... I've never been to Yale, but I think most rationale people would feel comfortable equating "Who are you to say he is smarter than me? Just because I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth and coddled by Daddy! That makes him smart? Like I said the man can't even form a sentence." with the guy is unintelligent.

As to your second point, now might be a good time to consider the piece of advice I gave you earlier. In your limited experience, you see guys like Kerry, the Clintons, Obama, and McCain as being labled "elites" because of their education. What those of us who are a bit older realize is that it's their actions, not their education, that gets them labled that way. Look at Kerry for a moment. He sends his minions out to explain to people who disagree with him that they just don't understand him because he is just so intelligent that his thinking goes above most people's ability to understand. That will draw the elite flag everytime. How about his use of a phony hick accent to try to score points with gun owners by walking into a gun shop and saying "can I get me a hunting license here?" His use of that accent is condescending to most folks, which draws the flag again. Obama drew the flag for being condescending to the values that a lot of middle class and lower people hold dear. A lot of very brilliant and well-educated people have done very well in politics without being labled as elites or snobs. They let their actions define them as being for or with the folks. They didn't need to adopt fake accents to make people think they were pro-gun... they let their pro-gun voting record do that.

Lastly, you don't have to worry about the elitist snob comments yet. You're just an elitist snob wannabe at this point. You've yet to accomplish anything of note, however you are definately showing signs of heading in that unfortunate direction. You want to avoid being labled an elitist snob on the order of Kerry? Then admit that what you initially wrote about Bush was wrong, and stop trying to make people think that what you wrote really wasn't what you wrote.

Um...I didn't make that post with the silver spoon that you're referring to. That was some user named "LesterGreen." I'm "tiny_dancer33." *points to username*

You're right! I did mistake you for LesterGreen. Shows me why I shouldn't be responding to posts at 3:00 in the morning. I stand corrected.

Don't worry about it. I was just so confused for a little, I was like "What did I do wrong?"

And I know the 3:00 in the morning feeling. All is forgiven.
