I wouldn't expect most people to have known what was coming. Most people didn't know what was coming.

Oh yeah, we're supposed to have a bad hurricane season this year. Where is it?

Lemme check NOAA...nothing, damn, NOAA's wrong again.

I remember watching a couple of days in advance, thinking that those folks should get out. The national news was reporting it, as shown above. One would have to be deaf, dumb, and blind not to have taken SOME kind of precaution a day or more in advance if they lived in a city below sea/lake level, protected by very old levees, with a huge hurricane coming. There were easily tens of hours advanced warning, with a butt-ton of buses that could have at least moved people a good bit inland.

But, you're right, the governor was the one at fault for not doing something about it until it was far too late, with the mayor being the one that could have pre-emptively taken the actions the governor didn't take.

But the local news was busy trying to put a pretty face on it.

Obama says that he "extended healthcare for wounded troops that had been neglected" and cited Public Law 110-181 as proof of this.

The problem is: Obama didn't show up to vote. Only 9 senators voted the bill down or did not show up to vote.

Obama was one of the 9.

The bill passed the senate 91 to 3... without Obama's vote.

So, will CNN, ABC, FOX, NBC, CBS, and PMSNBC call him out on it?

Neither did McCain or Clinton.

You just totally missed the point of that thread.

Sen. Obama's taking credit for passing legislation for which he did not show up to vote. Neither Senator McCain nor Senator Clinton are running TV ads taking credit for passing this legislation. Senator Obama didn't even vote on it - it's a bald faced lie by Barack Obama.

Andy. Before you go freakin' nuts. Obama authored or made admendments or something to part of this bill that extended health care benefits to veterans. So whereas he did not vote it - it originated with him. The bill was going to pass. Overwhelmingly. Obama's vote would not have made any difference. Which is exactly the reason McCain and Clinton did not really have to vote to make it pass. I do not have the time to look everything up right now. But...as a veteran, I was very much aware of what was going on with that bill and everyone who was behind it.

Check the facts of PL 110-181 and you will find it originated in the House and was on 1/22/2008 "Received in the Senate, read twice, considered, read the third time, and passed without amendment by Yea-Nay Vote. 91 - 3."
