Barack Obama pened for the Hyde Park Herald—he blamed the 9/11 attacks on “a failure of empathy.”

The 9/11 attackers were all “middle class.” or rich like Osama, not dirt poor like Obama thinks.

Just a couple of points. What Obama wrote was "The essence of this tragedy, it seems to me, derives from a fundamental absence of empathy on the part of the attackers: an inability to imagine, or connect with, the humanity and suffering of others. Such a failure of empathy, such numbness to the pain of a child or the desperation of a parent, is not innate; nor, history tells us, is it unique to a particular culture, religion, or ethnicity." Why is this a stupid remark? Terrorists do lack any sense of empathy with their victims, which allows them to pull off an attack on civilians without any remorse.

As to your "...not dirt poor like Obama thinks." comment, you neglect to point out that this piece was written on September 19, 2001. At that point nobody knew much of anything about the backgrounds of the attackers. Like the opinions of many people at that point in time, Obama's comments were wrong, but not stupid.

Has Obama ever stated what his proposed TAX increases will be.

Obama's costs of course, will actually INCLUDE the war, even for a little while.

Actually, he HAS delineated how he plans to pay for some things - I just disagree with a lot of them. One of them involves more or less scuttling our space program - so he can pay for pre-school. No kidding.

On the other hand, he has at least admitted what the rest of the Democrats have been openly denying - that you can't keep Social Security solvent without raising taxes or reducing benefits. He's said he'd do what everyone knows has to be done in the short-term - raise the level of income that is taxed.

Actually, you are spot on about the space program, I posted on that before. Its a scary thought that he wants to fund inner city pre-k (do we need more pre-K? How about some parents...) instead of our space program, something that used to be a huge source of national pride and science.
