WASHINGTON — Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama landed Saturday in Afghanistan, the second stop in a week-long foreign trip with both foreign policy and political implications.
Less than four months before the general election, Obama's first visit to Afghanistan, with a subsequent stop in Iraq, is part of an official congressional delegation. Yet, the trip comes as Obama has been outlining his foreign policy positions as the presumptive Democratic nominee, and Republican John McCain has been making Obama's relative lack of foreign policy experience a major campaign issue.
