McCain did nothing.

Airborne Express being a publicly traded company had a shareholder vote on August 14th 2003 and approved the sale of the company to DHL. McCain's campaign manager was a paid lobbyist/consultant for DHL 5 years ago and helped get the sale of Airborne Express through the FTC and congress because DHL is a Belgian company.

McCain's only involvement was it eventually came before his committee and there was a vote on a rule that would have barred the DOD from using an air express service owned by a foreign country. McCain opposed the rule with the idea that putting that rule on the Pentagon was too restrictive and the Pentagon needed options.

So now along comes Obama and blames McCain for these people potentially losing their jobs at an old Airborne Express hub because DHL wants to consolidate operations at another hub. It was not McCain, it was his campaign manager who worked on the deal 5 years ago. It is a business and nothing was illegal nor inappropriate. It happens everyday.
