Politics and kids

Christine Pelosi (daughter of you-know-who) was just on Hannity and Colmes and Sean nailed her with the lack of feminist support for Sarah Palin. Not that all feminists should vote for her, but did Christine Pelosi disagree with Joe Biden that Palin being VP would be a setback for women's rights?

Pelosi hemmed and hawed and dicked around with it, then she finally said, "You're trying to get me to disagree with Joe Biden, and I'm not going to do it."

Okay.

So she's a diehard hang with the gang liberal Democrat who will throw her values away for the sake of the party, just like her Mom.

What about your kids? I think my son is a registered Republican, but we disagree all the time on political stuff. My daughter might not even be registered to vote because she doesn't care and doesn't know enough about it to make an educated vote.

So do your kids believe what you believe when it comes to politics? (Only those with adults children need respond - nobody cares what some second grader thinks about the state of the union.)

My daughter (17 at the time voted in the Primaries) and will vote in November (now 18) and yes I think she believes as I do. Maybe not on every issue but in our general political beliefs we agree.

My daughter's a vegetarian granola hippie

...we disagree on several topics.

however, her agreeing with me politically won't get her a life of wealth and privilege. Evidently Pelosi's daughter is a whore.

I didn't become party-mates with my Mother until she married my step-dad. He said he wasn't going to marry no damn Democrat, so she went down and changed her voter registration.

My kids are both registered Republicans. They agree with me on most things politics.

My daughter started as a liberal, but when she started working she soon changed.

I forced my daughter to stop talking about who is better, obama or McCain just because she hears me say I like McCain.
so I made her go look them up on the net and read what they each think should be done, and what they claim they have to offer.

at least now she can tell me in her own words why she likes one over the other, and its refreshing to hear her reasons when they arent repeats of what I have said.

...that educational?

Hannity is still a prick who is about a freaking dim whit. He'd rather bully the kid than just ask simple, clear questions.

All he had to do was say "Is your support for woman based on their gender or their politics?" and let her flounder around with it and then ask "So, you only support Democrats and it has nothing to do with gender? Doesn't that fly in the face of being 'pro' woman if it's only certain women?"

Nooooo. Sean has to shout her down.

I swear that the only reason any of these people get these jobs is because they are put bulls who will simply stay on message, no matter what, like a god with a bone, logic be damned.

I'm ignoring the kids + politics question and going back to your story that leads to the question. Are you saying that because Palin is a woman, feminists should vote for her? That's like saying black people should vote for Obama, white and old people should vote for McCain, etc. If the feminist support isn't there, it's probably because Palin's ideas aren't in their best interest as much as Clinton's were. I'm guessing most feminists aren't pro-life, among other hot topics. Regardless, people should vote on politics and not on a candidate's gender, race, or sex.

It's no secret that growing up in a certain type of household, especially a politically charged one such as Pelosi's, may have an impact on political opinions. It's similar to religion. How many kids grow up and change their religion? With thousands of religions out there (and I'm including different sects of Christianity, Judaism, etc) it's pretty amazing how most people stay with what they were born into, with most changes coming as a result of marriage. It's nurture, all the way.

So how old is Pelosi's daughter? Obviously old enough to know that disagreeing with mom's politics is a that will embarrass mom politically and kill any chances that daughter can be successful, should she choose to go into that field herself.

My kids are too young to understand politics, but speaking as a daughter...

I'm a register Democrat with conservative opinions. I've explained before that since I live in an overwhelmingly Democratic state, I felt that registering Dem was the better way to make my vote count for something. How does that compare to my parents?? Well, Mom has always been registered Independent, but we tend to see issues the same way. Dad registered to vote for the first time in his life 4 years ago because he didn't like John Kerry.
