The untold...

...or little told story of 9/11 is that from the bad guys standpoint is was an unmitigated disaster. The US military is entrenched in Iraq for probably generations to come. They didn't want that. The US military is entrenched in Afghanistan, probably for generations to come. They didn't want that.

Thousands, maybe tens of thousands of jihadists who answered the call to arms are dead and gone. They didn't want so many to be lost.

US relations with Saudi still seem solid. They didn't want that.

Muslim oil countries have huge amounts of money to further entrench the the existing governments, governments hostile to al queda, that really don't have much interest in more war with the US. They didn't want that.

Certainly, there have been numerous attempts at attacks in the US that have failed and/or been thwarted. However, we all know that a decentralized outfit, like Al queda, is designed so that independent cells can be too numerous and too autonomous to track by anything but luck. And it should be readily evident that waves of violence can be conducted easily any time someone is willing to die trying which is supposed to be to stock and trade of AQ. It hasn't happened. The desire and ability to conduct attacks is clearly limited and credit for that has to go to the administration, however poorly they achieved this.

Any attack now damn near guarantees a McCain win and I think it should be obvious to anyone, including them, that they will be far happier with President Obama than President McCain, especially with that crazy gun happy bytch he's got who doesn't know her place.

There are plenty of issues to be considered. Another attack is simply out of the question. It ain't gonna happen because the people who would do it have far too much to lose be doing it now.

If you're conspiracy minded, anything that does happen has to be suspect as it simply does not achieve any positive goals for the bad guys.

If the large scale attack occurs on American soil... I can't even imagine.
If they attack again, right now, it might bring us to our knees, but what I fear is that some muslim country is going to be turned into glass in a matter of days.

If you look at the big picture, Communisim is taking off again with a powerful vengence, China, Russia and now Venezuala are all on the same side, Russia is flexing its muscle in south America, and in the artic region, most of Europe is eithe on the fence with the U.S, or just dont like us. The Iraq war has taken its toll on our troops, low numbers, and they are tired.
A major ground war would be a mistake right now, the only thing left is to drop some glass making bombs in the sand.

Interesting how you assume they are rational.

If you view them through your prism, yeah, they're all suicidal maniacs. If you view it through theirs, they are not; they are fighting for their way of life. If you view it through results they obviously are not irrational.

It is true Al Quada did not want us occupying the Middle East, IMHO this offensive posture has been a huge deflection to attacks within the US borders. We occupy their space and they have to deal with us over there, not here.

New reports released yesterday say 15,000 Al Quada/Al Quada-types are entrenched and training in Afghanistan, near the Pakistan border. It is unknown how many are on the Pakistan side, but the number is believed to be close to the Afghan numbers.

There are plenty of these fanatics left and I tend to agree with BCP on this, another attack is around the corner as we have become a bit complacent within our borders as we are still focused on ops overseas. They have tried within CONUS and attempts have either been cut off or abandoned, but I believe it is a matter of time and what better time than the election of our new leader.

We had our chance but did not act, we should have struck within days, occupied the entire region and sucked it dry of oil - period. Who said all is fair in love and war? They do not want us there and we do not want to be there, with that said it should have been an all-out seize and occupation and it would have been done. We could have sold off excess oil to China and made some cash... bleeding hearts would not allow that to happen and here we are.

thats funny, if you believe this administration, the iraqi people want us there. Besides, can you imagine how many jihadist we would have created by occupying, and stealing their natural resources?

BTW, it was the republican administration that didn't let it happen, because some of us aren't bigoted aholes who think all olive colored people are terrorists

and which part of my post was inaccurate?

the part about making more terrorists by not handeling the iraq situation correctly?
or that some people around here claiming to be republicans are bigots who think every off white person from the middle east is a terrorist?

or that it was the republican administration that set the course for the war?

or was it that some of us republicans are not biogts, at least not towards people of another faith.
