At this point, it seems most think Palin might totally bomb on Thursday night. If this is true, all she needs to do is keep from being that dreadful.

If she delivers merely a sub-par performance, everyone will be so impressed they'll count it as a victory. If she actually does well (), the world will sing her praises and the ensuing Palinmania II will knock the Earth of it's axis.


The only way she "loses" is if she really is as horrendous as everyone fears she could be.

True. This was the same tactic Obama was taking, and it worked for him. He got stomped, and looked a fool for the most part, but was lauded for holding his own. Therefore, the "draw" went to the underdog - Obama.

Unfortunately, we have very few talking heads who try and remain objective, so the obvious is left unsaid.

It worked for Obama, maybe it will work for Palin, and swing the tide yet again.

IMHO, the inmates of the SoMDformums echo chamber are not especially representative of the greater American public. When I said nobody, I didn't mean it literally; I really doubt that prior to her selection, many men on the street would have recognized the name Palin - unlike the Huckabee, Romney, or Guliani.

If you're truly anxious to compare votes registered for either candidate, just remember that Biden's career totals exceed Palin's by just a few tens of millions or so.
