| "They're all crooks..." ...said the father to the son. "Aw, come on, dad! They can't all be crooks?!" said the son to the father. "Where else will someone spend a million dollars to get a job that pays $100,000 a year?" Jesse 'the body' Ventura's dad to him about politicians. Jesse was just on an interview on TV. I hadn't heard that exact quote before, that I remember, but I do recall any number of times hearing people say 'they're all crooks' regarding politicians. Now, you go ahead and try and argue that, at the end of the day, Bush, Obama, Clinton, Reagan, that in our day and age, what else is a politician? When you explore why they'd spend so much time and money to get the job, the House, the Senate, the governors mansion, why else would they do it except for what THEY can get out of it? It might be time to stop holding in such high esteem people that are nothing more than crooks and this includes the people around politics, reporters, aides, consultants, talking heads. Convince me otherwise that we aren't obsessed with people who want to get something for nothing; crooks.

| You'll get no argument out of me. I think they're crazy as well. Why would any sane person subject their family and friends to that sort of scrutiny where their every move and syllable will be painted in the worst possible light and broadcast to the world? This is why we'll never get the best and brightest in government: the best and brightest would never put themselves and their family through that crap. |

Jessie also said that had he been single, he'd have run for senate after being governor but was not willing to put his wife and kids through it.

Possibly I should have said "I think they're crazy as well as crooks" but you'd have found something else to pick at. | |
