| Let It Go... Why am I not surprised by the reaction to our new President elect by several of somd.com member? LOL… I didn’t expect anything else but I do have one question “WHO’S WHINING NOW”? To say that the media decided the outcome of our election is BS. America decided the outcome and America is ready for change. Barak Obama was not chosen because he was a Black Man, he was chosen because he is THE BEST MAN. Now honestly, do you think his whites supporters voted for him because history was being made? Probably not, they voted for him because they were ready for something new. If they (meaning his white supporters) did not feel he was qualified for the job they would have cared less about history being made. Yes, many African Americans voted for him because he was black but every black person in the US could have come out and voted for him and he still would not have won without the white votes. If you’re looking for someone to blame then blame your current President, George W. He’s the reason several RED states turned BLUE. Also, you may want to take a look at your candidate’s choice for a running mate. If his decision to choose Sarah P. has anything to do with his decision making skills then we would have been in BAD shape if he was elected. He took his defeat graciously and I think you all should do the same. Oh oh but wait…. You all don’t whine or blame anyone for anything. That’s only for black people. Sorry, what in the world was I thinking. To those of you that supported Obama/Biden “YES WE DID”… I hope to see you at the Inauguration Parade.

I do agree that the people subscribing to the idea that they "voted for him because he's black" is a bit ridiculous. Most people I met that voted for him did so because they "bought" into what he was selling and were very passionate about it (as it appears you are as well). Personally I think the next 4 years will provide me with plenty of entertainment.

Educated people understand that there are always varying veiw points on any given issue. In this case, the election. There were all different types of people with differing income levels, faiths, racial backgrounds, and levels of education who voted for Obama and McCain. Some educated voters went for Obama and some educated voter went for McCain. All of them made their choice based on who they felt was best for them.

| T, they'll never get over it. Electing a black President has done nothing to dispel the victim mentality that's ingrained in some folks. As far as they're concerned, they are still slaves and every white person is a racist massa. |

I was speaking of the throngs chanting hope and change, with no idea what their candidate was hoping for, or the change that was being suggested. Or, the impact that change would likely have if they did know.

| Yes, please just let it go and support your new President. It astounds me that any true American could have watched what happened Tuesday night and not have been moved or touched in some way, regardless if you voted for Obama or not. Whether or not you want to agree is up to you, but the FACT is what happened was/is an amazing historical moment for our country. The fact that not only the majority of Americans but the WORLD is celebrating this only proves that point. It is just like any other election...you obviously are going to be upset if your person loses, but the reasons should be purely political so stop throwing race into things and start moving on. |
