Obama wants economic stimulus package passed quick

Obama wants economic stimulus package passed quickly | Reuters

Quote:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President-elect Barack Obama said on Friday he wanted Congress to pass another stimulus package as soon as possible to stabilize the U.S. economy.

"We are going to need to see a stimulus package passed either before or after the inauguration (on January 20). I want to see a stimulus package sooner rather than later," Obama told a news conference in Chicago after meeting his economic advisers.

Does anyone really think that a stimulus package can pull us out of an economic recession?

Does anyone really think that GIVING extra money to buy sneakers made in China can really provide the catalyst for economic turnaround?

Is capping corporate profits going to be part of this package as well?

(John McCain voice) My friends, just how the flying hell is the Grand Old Party going to argue against an economic stimulus plan(s)? Or argue, my friends, against bailing out Ford and GM and Chysler?

Shall we say it's a dumb idea and markets work best when allowed to function?

Obama says will confront economic woes head-on | Politics | Reuters

Whoever takes the Treasury job will guide the $700 billion economic bailout package and the regulatory reform needed to prevent a repeat of the current crisis.
Sorry ... I posted without first completing my research ... the other Reuter's article cleared it up for me.

The socialist president will soon be picking a new socialist Treasurer to start work on new socialist regulations ... I feel a WHOLE lot more comforatable now

i love how you call obama a socialist for INHERITING these things from bush

BTW, john mccain was suggesting a second bailout during the campaign. I dont like it, but it seemed inevitable.

Okay, if it makes you feel better Bush is a socialist. That's why he lowered taxes FOR EVERYONE! That's why Bush NEVER proposed to raise taxes on one class of wage earners to redistribute to another class. And need I remind you, ONCE AGAIN, Bush also inherited a recession from Clinton and got us out of it through tax cuts not increases.

There is no doubt Bush was a big government lib spender. This could define him as a fiscal liberal but hardly defines him as a socialist. BO is a socialist not just because he wants bailouts and stimulous but because he proposes big social programs and his spread the wealth policy.

you mean like when bush sent us random checks in the mail?

it is just not accurate to call obama a socialist if you are going to call our current system anything else.

Bush's presidency is over ... and I'm surely not going to defend Bush's economic policies ... and especially those hokey stimulus checks ... I actually banked mine.

Based on campaign statements and promises ... Obama is very much a socialist ... when you want to spread the wealth and cap corportate profits ... that's socialist

very basic socialism

Those checks went to everyone. Not just a select few. And Bush didn't rasie taxes on one group in order to redistribute that money to another group. AND what Bush did was a one-time stimulous policy not a permanent social handout that BO intends implement.

And I'm not defending Bush's economic policies of late either. I was against the stimulous package. I was against the bailout bill. I've said Bush is a fiscal liberal. And thatguy doesn't seem to be able to differentiate between a fiscal liberal and a socialist.
