See, and everyone #####es and cries about Exxon, but I'm unaware of Exxon needing a bailout from the government to stay in business.

Eh, they'll just nail all of us sheep at the gas pump if the profit margin falls too low.

Or they can just nail us through our tax dollars where we have no choice. At least when the price of gas goes up, we can decide to reduce our driving. When they hit you in the tax pocket, you have no choice.

Anyway, gas prices have dropped considerably, so all that whining was for nothing.

Better to stagger now and make them mend their greedy ways than be staggering forever bailing them out when they can't get their financial act together.
OK if the CEO and top executives made only $200K each would you change your mind?

Not if they still couldn't run their company without my tax dollars. If I'm going to be paying their salaries and operating costs, I want a say-so in their business. When I take their money, they can do what they like. But when they take *my* money, I want something out of it.

Whatever President proposed the first corporate bailout, that guy should have a black mark next to his name in the history books because he set an ugly precedent.

I thought it was Reagan but research shows it was James Earl Carter.

On the news this morning they said the 75 billion dollar bailout would be to basically pay the bills .... for 6 months!

After 6 months they could need help again.

Obama asks Bush to provide help for automakers - International Herald Tribune

Quote:
Obama has signaled to the automakers and the unions that his support for short-term aid now, and long-term assistance once he takes office, is contingent on their willingness to agree to transform their industry to make cleaner, more energy-efficient vehicles.
So, instead of demanding a plan to show how they can get competative in the global market ... Obama is going to add green mandates ...

oh my

This is cool, Ive been getting tired of things like boating and camping, obama is giving me a way out.
seems that the average car he wants on the roads wont pull a fat woman away from the buffet line, let alone a camper.
