We wrote and signed The Geneva Convention, and made our allies sign it. We can't go violating the Geneva Convention after we pressured everyone else to sign it.

And this war you speak of sir is an endless war.

Out of 800 released so far.

How many should we keep locked up to make sure .015% (thats a hella lot less than one percent) dont return or become terrorists, because of their stay at "Club Gitmo"
I might be wrong, but doesn't 12/800=1.5%?

Did we write the Geneva conventions? Where did you get that little tidbit? I had always thought that the conventions came about due to the insistence of the International Committee of the Red Cross. We participated in these conventions and have become signatories, but I would like to see proof that we (meaning the USA) authored and forced others to sign on to them.

Since when do spies and people not fighting in uniform come under the Geneva Convention.

All of them.
Let me ask you: How many terrorists can we afford to let go so they can go back to their country to fight against us?

Give into their lifestyle, make America into what they are and sell us out JUST AS HE HAS DONE 5 TIMES IN HIS FIRST 3 DAYS with those executive orders!!!
What does Obama have to do with this particular man's release? He was sentenced to 30 years...30 years ago, his time is up. Again, what does this have to do with Obama and liberals?

Bush got blamed for everything, now it's Obammy's turn. Come on, catch up here! As I said earlier: A POW is a POW until the war ends!
Why do you think Obama is really closing down Gitmo? If YOU truly find the answer to this question you'll know what he''s about and you'll see that his motives are dangerous.
I'll help you here: He is dead set on bringing America DOWN to the level of most of the other countries. I heard him say that he doesn't like the pride and arrogance of America, he doesn't like the negative feelings that other countries have for the USA. He said he doesn't want us to be above the rest of the world but we should all be on the same level. Maybe the stations YOU listen to didn't play those news clips but the ones I listen to did.
Did he ever say that he want's the USA to continue to be the greatest country on earth? Even his wife said she wasn't proud of this country until he was running for the White House.
SO what does Obama have to do with a particular man's release? It's not about this particular man's release, it's about the underlying reason Obama has for shutting down Guantanamo! This is just one more step in his tearing down America little by little and you morons enabled him!

No, he was sentenced to 30 years 15 years ago. He still has 15 more to do of the full sentence but for some reason he is getting time off for good behavior. Some people shouldn't have that option and I think a terrorist falls into such a group of those that should do the full term of their sentence.

Thank you. I thought I'd read that in the article so I re-read it and it said he was sentenced in April of 1993 to 30 years.
Way to get the details right Mitzi!

I read about the crimes he committed in the 70s and I thought he was sentenced then or either I'm confusing him with another terrorist. I was wrong about that. Regardless, the current President has nothing to do with his release. I agree though, he shouldn't be given an early release.
