| Excellent criteria when you are looking for political news. ![]() BTW, I think you're missing an adjective.

| I don't like politics coverage 24/7. And when a category 4 hurricane is hitting Florida (where I have friends and family), I like to know what's going on. I get it, yall's lives revolve around politics. Everything Obama says is the difference between life and death to you and -- he's an evil dictator who's going to destroy America and turn us into a socialist communist fascist Marxist (did I miss any "ist"s?) regime!!!! ![]() Believe it or not, my life doesn't revolve around politics. ####, you're only stressing yourselves to a heart attack every time you flip out over Barack the evil dictator. ![]() |

| I assume you're speaking in theoretical terms. Quote:
Turning the TV off is a far, far, far, far better alternative to Maddow. King has a good show now and then, Hannity has some good points to make but it's hard to sit through the rest to get to the good points (much better in next day synopsis). Having a life away from the TV is better than all three.

| Strung Out | Here's Olbermann/Maddow in summary: Headlines: Obama to expand TARP VIII. Reid, Pelosi get the votes to pass stimulus. Another Obama cabinet candidate with tax problems. How much more money will GM need? Is Rahm's war with Limbaugh distracting Obama? Obama to try to get G20 nations to spend stimulus money; many nations balk. Oil on the rise again. CBO says Obama spending plan untenable. Is the government going to take over health care? Tonight on Olbermann: "Boooossshhhhed. Is the GOP the home of insane child molesters? Proof." Tonight on Maddow: "Inside recent reports that the GOP is the home of insane child molesters AND cannibals!"

And, a lot of people could be good news anchors, if they chose to. However, their primary goal is usually to be entertaining, which makes sense. People should just understand that, as a goal, providing news has to be secondary. As for the rest of those people you mentioned, you can have all of them. I think entertainment is important. I also think that getting some news is important. But, as with most things, I think when you commingle them and try to do both at the same time - you don't do either very well. Dedicated tools usually function better than swiss army knives. So, I prefer to get my news from the wires or more original sources (e.g. get the text of a bill from the Library of Congress, or market data from the CME site). To be sure, some of it still can't be taken at face value - but it is easier to sift through it and get to the bottom of what is going on. | |

| Board Mommy | Thanks for that I have that little weener dog on IGNORE for a reason.I would ask why he refers to Sean Hannity as "Scream", considering I've never heard Hannity be anything less than pleasant. But I'll never see his response, and probably don't care what his mental deficiency comes up with anyway.
