A Rookie President

An interesting article by Thomas Sowell.

Someone once said that, for every rookie you have on your starting team in the National Football League, you will lose a game. Somewhere, at some time during the season, a rookie will make a mistake that will cost you a game.

We now have a rookie president of the United States, and, in the dangerous world we live in, with terrorist nations going nuclear, just one rookie mistake can bring disaster down on this generation and generations yet to come.

We can lose some very big games with this rookie.

A Rookie President by Thomas Sowell on National Review Online

I am completely and totally against legislators becoming president. First and foremost, they are lawyers and bottomfeeders. There should be something in the Constitution that says only Governors or those who've held executive positions can become president.

We had a bunch of good Governors to choose from in 2008, and we ended up with a pack of Congressscum on the ballot. It's just wrong.

Didn't read the article...
Quote:
Barack Obama is a rookie in a sense that few other presidents in American history have ever been. It is not just that he has never been president before. He has never had any position in any kind of organization where he was personally responsible for the outcome.

Other first-term presidents have been governors, generals, Cabinet members, or others in positions of personal responsibility. A few have been senators, like Barack Obama, but usually for longer than Obama, and not having spent half their few years in the Senate running for president.
BTW, if you disagree with Thomas Sowell, you're a racist!

Law is defined to be a rule of action; but how can that be a rule, which is little known and less fixed? -James Madison

Yes, being a Rookie is like being a newbie - the point of the article is to explain the dangers of his lack of experience dealing with these international and national matters.

I was no huge McCain fan, but given the options, he was the safer choice. I am sure the Obama zombies will have no part of that statement.

With all the bad guys massing against us, I prefer Ronald Reagan's philosophy of "Peace through Strength" much more to Hussein's "Peace through Appeasement and Weakness."

Believe me, I am ALL for ending war, but the safety & wellbeing of my family & country comes first.

I'm OK with congress people; Lincoln, Bush 41 wasn't all that bad.

Senators in particular are a plague; Obama, McCain, JFK...

On the other hand, governors aren't all that either; Bush 43, Bubba...

How about anyone who ever held elected office is prohibited?
