I disagree. We may be a nation with a majority of people who "claim" to be Christians but we are not a "Christian Nation".

We just had a majority of the voters elect a democrat leader. Does that make us a Democrat Nation?

We have a majority of people who have pets vs. no pets. Does that make us a Pet Nations?

I know that this last one particularly is silly, but . . .

True Christianity is the source of liberty and freedom
Religion(including so called Christian religion) and politics both work to place man in bondage when God sets men free.

True Christianity allows any worship(to include atheism) to be allowed, hence our FIrst Amendment Freedom of religion.
