Said in a sound bite I heard this morning that "meeting Castro was like seeing an old friend".

The delegation of communist leaning democrat congressmen chatted it up with Castro, kissed his ass, praised him but didn't bring up any of the messy human rights violations he has perpetuated on his own people for the last 60 years.

Different Rush, I know. But since you mentioned the name. I was listening to Rush around 1130 today playing the clips of these Black Causus tools ranting about how great Fidel was to visit - as if he is running a model country.

Flipside on the awfully boring Ed Schultz show, they were discussing how Bush & Cheney cancelled the million dollar hit Bill Clinton authorized for the assisination of Bin Laden and how they basically allowed 9-11 to happen with full knowlegde of the plan. Nice to be able to flip between the two - but the idiots that call into Schultz's show take so long to say anything. Tough to listen to even in extremely small doses.

Liberal talk radio has the eternal handicap of...liberal subject matter. You can be terrible on the radio and yet have a decent show talking about how US congress people praising the leaders of yet another failed communist state is absurd and annoying.

It's kinda tough to do a show, for a US audience, celebrating US congress people celebrating the leaders of yet another failed communist state. So much of liberalism is like Saturday night when the bar is about to close; all sorts of things that sounded great at the time really sound stupid with a clear head the next day.

This is why I am a total free speech guy; I wanna let them say "Yeah, we love communism, yeah we said it..." because if I say they love communism it's just not as much fun. Or as poignant a point

Rush was born in November 1946 in Albany, Georgia but grew up on Chicago's North Side, where his mother was a Republican precinct captain. While serving in the U.S. Army from 1963-1968, Rush became involved with the radical Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. In 1968 he went AWOL from the military and co-founded the gangster-ridden Illinois branch of the Black Panther Party (BPP), renowned for intimidating local business people into making "donations" to Panther "charities." One BPP member recruited by Rush was Fred Hampton, who was killed in a December 4, 1969 police raid on Panther headquarters.

In 1969 Rush served six months in jail for an illegal-weapons conviction. In 1971 his comrades were still describing him as the "Deputy Minister of Defense" for the BPP's Illinois chapter. In 1992 the socialist magazine In These Times would praise Rush, who was, by then, a fledgling congressional candidate, as someone who "has continued to support progressive policies and has never disavowed his Panther past."
