Nancy charm offensive...

Now, I say that to say she is ON an offensive to be charming; not that she has now offended a charm school. Or that she finds charm school offensive.

washingtonpost.com

Her good buddy EJ, wants you to know Nancy is not some San Fran kook. She's OK. And Barack is IN CHARGE.

Quote:
The congressional break comes at a moment when one cliche about Pelosi -- that she was a San Francisco liberal imposing her agenda on our pragmatic new president -- should be disposed of for good.

How many times earlier this year did you hear a variation on "Obama let Pelosi write the stimulus"? As Pelosi noted, "Anybody who knows Barack Obama knows that he's going to have the recovery package that he wants."
...

Quote:
"There are enough Democrats who are for health-care reform," she said. "You don't know where those Democratic votes are on cap-and-trade." Her view is that unless both houses can forge a broad compromise that will get at least 60 votes in the Senate, the whole effort will die anyway.

Indeed, the difficulties on this issue were underscored yesterday when the administration said it might move more slowly in auctioning off emissions permits.

During the interview last week, Pelosi called attention to a small statue of a coal miner that she has always kept in her office. It was a gift to her father from the late Jennings Randolph, who represented West Virginia in the House and Senate.

She said she points to the statue when she discusses energy and environmental questions with her mining-state colleagues. "They need not fear what I would write as a bill, [that I would] say, 'Let's write a bill without coal,' " she said. "You can't."

Those are not the words of an ideologue. In fact, that's the one thing Nancy Pelosi isn't.
Last night, she was making the rounds with John Stewart.

Warm and fuzzy. Nancy Cuddly Bear.

SURE, she is. Pffft. She's one of the most partisan politicians up there on the Hill. And she is not going to be upstaged by the likes of Barack Obamalamadindong, I can tell you that much. Not to mention the lady is a shrew.

She's probably just out there trying to sell a few more of her stupid books that never showed up on the bestseller's list.

She looks like her body has already started rotting in advance of her death.

What more would you expect for a girl who grew up inside the mob politics of the Charm City?

Because "City of sh***y schools" doesn't have that same ring to it.

Seriously, that is an interesting trivia question.

According a Answerbag:
Quote:
During the 1970’s, in an effort to promote Baltimore, the city developed an advertising campaign called "CHARM CITY". Visitors to Baltimore were given a charm bracelet and encouraged to purchase charms at the many Baltimore area attractions. As a result, Baltimore became known as the "Charm City", a nickname still used to this day.
Another source, another story:
Quote:
Baltimore has been nicknamed Charm City for the way in which the diverse cultures blend so successfully in this urban setting.
This site claims it is because of its personality.

They all seem hokey to me.
