Obama's green stimulus will cost jobs - study

Aren't windmills pretty? And don't you think solar panels are cool?

Even if they are, the problem with pushing those technologies is that for every one job created, an industrialized country like the US would lose two more:

American Thinker Blog: Obama's green stimulus will cost jobs - study

The CHANGE is about changing places in the unemployment line, I guess. This is bad math no matter how you look at it.

Good topic. This never seems to get discussed.

In addition to the subsidy issue, in the green, new world, where do oil drillers go? Where do refiners? Where do gas stations go? What happens to truck drivers who deliver gas and oil? How about people who make and service and sell internal combustion engines? Do they just transition to the 'new' jobs? Does that mean there are no net new jobs?

This is why markets work; they figure out where there is a desire for a product or service and then go about providing it and all the normal forces naturally apply; income, expense and asset, liability. If you just wave the government magic wand and declare a product or service, it isn't subject to the same rational forces. Thus all sorts of issues pop up.

No one had to figure out what to do with buggy whip manufacturing when the model T came along.

If some magic fuel dropped out of the sky that made oil obsolete, I wouldn't give two ####s if all of these people keeled over and dropped ####ing dead on the spot.

I wouldn't cry overmuch if it happened right now.

My guess is they will go the same places the Cigarette makers and the tobacco farmers go. they will find another job or the government will subsidise them through unemployment. The well rigs will fall down like the tobacco barns, the trucks will fall apart like the farmers tractors and equipment.

The big problem is that we all can live without tobacco, but when the lights go off and the heat in your home doesnt come on, and you cant get to that job in DC or 30 miles away at the base, and the food farmers dont have diesel, , Well, you can see the problem.

The windmills and the solar panels will never, NEVER, be able to supply America's energy needs within the foreseeable future.

My guess is that we will not see the end of oil in the next 50 years or more. Or even close to it. Or even a significant down turn in it's use.

Bottom line is that the green agenda can not get around the reality that there is no C02 issue to begin with nor can it be resolve how many people depend on oil for a living, globally, nor can it be gotten around that as alternatives are jammed into use, oil will become even more attractive as alternatives make oil even cheaper.
