So why is the left so angry? I don't know (I'm an idiot), so I put the question to the readers in my weekly online chat on Friday.

A reader from Rockville described it as a "sore winner" phenomenon. "People get used to being angry and when things change, they don't. So they find stuff to be mad about." Another said that some on the left "feel obligated to stay in the fight" because of the harsh treatment of Obama by the right.

But many focused on a frustration on the left caused by Obama's centrism -- his opposition to prosecuting those involved with torture, for example. "I am angry because the whole Republican party has not been rounded up and thrown into a black site," one wrote. A reader in Evanston, Ill., took a similar view, that true believers on the left don't want "b.s. rhetoric about looking forward." Okay, but why wouldn't this be directed at Obama? Readers explained that some of it is. But, "if we yell obscenities at Obama," replied a reader in Dunnellon, Fla., "we get a visit from the Secret Service. Yelling them at you is worry-free."

I've been asking this since the election. They're supposed to be jubilant that their party won & should be on top of the world.

You would think that this would make conservatives happy. Are you happy?

So if the left is angry, and the right was already angry and Obama's approval rating is 63 percent - one could logically conclude that give or take afew percentage points either way 18.5 percent to the extreme left and the 18.5 percent to the extreme right don't approve of the job he is doing. That is about perfect in my book.

Considering they want a full fledged and total socialist/police state?

Obama is doing government warranty of cars and is promising no prosecutions on those who went about making terror suspects uncomfortable all while he, Obama is merrily throwing blood in the water for congress to feast on with these document releases.

How about small comfort?

The left is angry that so far they havent discovered a way to make Conservatives come over to their way of thinking.

I try to look at it this way.

In the last 40 years, the Democrats have had both the White House and the Congress for a total of 6 years, and four of those were under Jimmy Carter. So they've spent a generation pretty much blaming the Republicans for why their stuff doesn't work. It doesn't matter if it's foreign policy, trade deficit, respect of our allies, economy, the environment, it's going to be the Republican's fault one way or another. Being angry is what they do - and as long as one Republican walks the Earth, the reason their ideas don't work will be HIS fault. They don't solve problems - they trot out the same idiotic ideas which don't work, and they tell us who to blame when they don't.

Angry is their only act. They don't have anything else. Their anger should surprise no one.
