Tea-party outpouring can't float GOP

Tea-party outpouring can't float GOP - Washington Times

"Embattled Republicans are finding that even last week's nationwide anti-bailout, anti-spending "tea-party" uprising can't immediately cure a party struggling to pull itself together.

It's not surprising that, confronting a popular Democratic president, riven by factions within its national governing body and with new Republican National Committee Chairman Michael S. Steele under fire from his own camp, the Republican Party has struggled to find its footing.

When Mr. Steele asked permission to address a Tax Day tea party in Chicago on Wednesday, national organizer Eric Odom said no. Mr. Odom, who called Mr. Steele a Johnny-come-lately to the free-market movement, said Mr. Steele was welcome to come and listen — but not to speak. An RNC spokesman then denied Mr. Steele had ever made the request.

Democrats grabbed this political fumble and ran with it."

It's time for a consertive party.

A lot of folks seem to think the tea parties supported the Republicans but they're no different than the Democrats when it comes to abusing the power of elected office.

Tea parties aren't meant to float the GOP. In fact, they are almost as guilty as the Democrats when it comes to reckless spending.

Tea parties are for the PEOPLE. You know - us? Government of, by and for? Remember? This isn't about any political party, it's about the citizens of the United States getting sick and tired of all the bull#### from our elected representatives.

Well put! I am not happy at all that the Left has stooped to a new low (including our administration) in dissrespecting the public who supports "Tea Parties".

Yet you continue to vote for them only because they have an R next to their name.

And, this is what a lot of people miss (especially the media when "reporting" on the Tea Parties) - there were Democrats there, Republicans there, Libertarians there, etc., etc. They were mad at all wasted government spending, they were mad at all socialistic policies, they were mad at all actions of government beyond the Constitutional authorities they have.....

This was people making their point, not Republicans nor Democrats making their point. They were making it against Republicans and Democrats alike - Republicans and Democrats both slamming Republicans and Democrats. It was true bipartisanship against the problem.

I think that's why the media couldn't figure it out. It didn't fit their mental model of what was going on, so they created what they THOUGHT was going on and simply said that was what was going on.

How do you feel about the Tea Parties Beav? Do think the media and the politicians are out of line when they discribe the Tea Parties as "Fox News event, Cry Baby Republicans"? You seem to share the same political point of vew my parents have. That is why I am interested in what you have to say.
