That post was primarily intended for nonno who seems to think waterboarding was apparently defined through the "Military Tribunal for the Far East" yet the same people that convicted the Japanese seemed okay with inflicting torture on them with hanging. Under the definition you have provided hanging is a form of torture.

Fact of the matter is, we used whatever methods we feel are necessary for the time to reach our objective. I have asked a lot of people this question:

"If you had a child that was kidnapped would you not use every means available (to include torture) to save your child?"

Every person I have ever asked has said they would. It other words it served their objective to save a (ONE) life. It was personal to them, so it was justified. However, since they can't see the results of our interrogators using harsh interrogations or torture (or whatever you want to call it) they see no real tangible results and feel no personal need for these tactics. They are not in the position of our interrogators that are tasks with obtaining information and realize not doing so would likely result in the loss of innocent life. Normal, everyday Americans can’t grasp this. The most important part of MOST an American’s day is the creep that cut them off on their way to work or that they got a double cheeseburger rather than a whopper or that their stock just dropped another 23%. They don’t have the first clue about the impossible job our intel agencies have and the painstaking efforts they go through to keep us safe.
