Thumbs up History supports McCain's stance on waterboarding

After World War II, an international coalition convened to prosecute Japanese soldiers charged with torture. At the top of the list of techniques was water-based interrogation, known variously then as "water cure," "water torture" and "waterboarding," according to the charging documents. It simulates drowning. "

So, was it okay to execute them? Especially by hanging? Isn't that a form of torture?

I think the legislature has taken care of that for us.

“torture” means an act committed by a person acting under the color of law specifically intended to inflict severe physical or mental pain or suffering (other than pain or suffering incidental to lawful sanctions) upon another person within his custody or physical control
They even went ahead and defined "severe mental pain or suffering" too, just so there wouldn't be any confusion.
Quote:
“severe mental pain or suffering” means the prolonged mental harm caused by or resulting from—
(A) the intentional infliction or threatened infliction of severe physical pain or suffering;
(B) the administration or application, or threatened administration or application, of mind-altering substances or other procedures calculated to disrupt profoundly the senses or the personality;
(C) the threat of imminent death; or
(D) the threat that another person will imminently be subjected to death, severe physical pain or suffering, or the administration or application of mind-altering substances or other procedures calculated to disrupt profoundly the senses or personality.

Torture is defined as MOM raising MD state taxes to 6% during an economic crises, sky high gas prices, and excepting every cent of the economic stimulus bill to fund a slew of new social welfare programs that once funding runs out from the stimulus bill will then have to be funded through more taxes on the backs of the state residents under the conditions of acceptance!!!

to a certain extent they are. that just cant be denied.

The difference is that everybody benifits from those, and everybody at some point wants them.

now if the money is being fairly distributed among the masses is another issue completely.
