"Obama disowns deficit he helped make"

FACT CHECK: Obama disowns deficit he helped shape

"That wasn't me," President Barack Obama said on his 100th day in office, disclaiming responsibility for the huge budget deficit waiting for him on Day One. It actually was partly him — and the other Democrats controlling Congress the previous two years — who shaped the latest in a string of precipitously out-of-balance budgets.

And as a presidential candidate and president-elect, he backed the twilight Bush-era stimulus plan that made the deficit deeper, all before he took over and promoted spending plans that have made it much deeper still."

What's so interesting is that this is appearing as an AP news story on Yahoo! Will wonders never cease??

Obama's only claim to fame was his continued claim he opposed the invasion of Iraq based on an undocumented, unattended speech he claims to have made in Chicago. There is no record of the speech, there is no newpaper report, there is no recording (though they DID try to recreate and film a similar speech but got caught).

Now he's claiming he didn't have anything to do with the deficit the Democrats have been buidling since the 2006 election? No way, Jose. He didn't vote "Present" in the U.S. Senate so he left tracks. It's his depression despite Larry and his BDS.

The Republicans aren't innocent in all this. I seem to remember numerous Bush expenditures that made me howl, #1 being the $9 BILLION AIDS "relief" for Africa. That warlord food drop wasn't such a hot idea, either.

The $9 Billion saved lives, what about the German and French banks that got $36 billion from AIG Bailout that was paid with tax payer money?

Is this one of the lines that starts out with "I don't accept the false premise that I'm not the Messiah and I'm not infallible!" ????

This country cannot continue to run around the world playing the savior to every country in trouble. We cannot continue to spend Billions that we don't have to bail everyone else out. When are the idiots in office going to get that through their heads.

As I recall, that money was owed by AIG to those banks. AIG had insured those bank against losses, which the banks then incurred, so AIG had to pay up.

I don't think anyone is saying the Republicans aren't ALSO responsible. The point is that the president (current) is ALSO responsible - as opposed to his cries of it not being any part his.
