Miss California Just Lost Me

"Up until now, I've been on Carrie Prejean's side on her answer to Perez Hilton's gay marriage query at the Miss USA pageant. While I disagree with her, she didn't choose the question, and has a right to her opinion. As she points out, her answer didn't differ much from the President's. In fact, her vision of an America where people can choose same sex marriage or "opposite marriage" is far more generous than the reality.

Furthermore, Perez Hilton acted like a real a**hole about it, calling Prejean a number of misogynist slurs, and damaging the cause of gay rights in the process.

Unfortunately, Prejean has gone from being an individual with her own opinion, to an advocate for taking away the rights of others."

for a minute, I was worried you had an actual thought of your own, but when I clicked the link I was relieved to find that you're still a brainless parrot

He has a point.

Perez Hilton should have been waterboarded for the remarks he made about her. Whether I agree or not, she stood by her beliefs - and that's the type of role model young women need these days.

But, like the article says, she's gone from being the victim to being the attacker, joining a cause to limit the rights of others. She should have stopped while she was ahead.

Now she's just opening Pandora's Box: the left will dissect every nanosecond of her life and throw her to the pit bulls just like they did to Bristol Palin.

Isnt it the Democrats who say Never waste a good crisis ?

She is just taking advantage of their ignorance to start this crap in the first place.

She isnt taking away anyones rights. No one has the right to same sex marriage to begin with. Where is that right written in the Constitution.

Is same sex marriage coming? Probably it is, just as sex with 12 year olds for homosexual pedophiles is coming. The hate crime bill recognises pedophiles as a class that cannot be discriminated against.

See, this line of thinking is where the whole same-gendered union crowd lose ME.

First: By stating her opinion, and doing so both when asked, and to advocate for that belief, is not attacking anybody. That's just bunk, unless you believe that same-gendered union advocates are attacking those who believe differently also. Personally, I think they're just both stating their opinion.

Second: No one's rights are limited when it comes to marriage. This is just a twisting of the truth to fit an agenda. No one will be stopped from marrying whomever they choose. And, if they want state recognition of their marriage, they must meet the state definition of marriage. So, no man nor woman is refused the right to marry someone of the opposite gender, so long as both are willing, not already married to someone else, both are of age, and they're not too closely related already. This is true of anyone, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, etc. No one is denied this right.

What same gendered union advocates are asking for is not the right to marry. They are asking to redefine the word marriage. This is a very different thing, and has nothing to do with anyone's rights being denied.
