Personally, I don't have an issue with this, I hated it when the media made a stupid azz story about Sarah Palin & family's clothes. And this story is wrong, too.

We all know rich people can afford the nicer things - outside of jealousy why should we care?

Palin and her familys' clothes were on loan and hopefully the money went to charity after they were finished on the campaign trail....

Michelle's shoes were bought by her.......it would have made more sense to buy a pair of 20 Walmart kickers and give the 520 saved to the charity where she was helping.......

Common sense seems to escape some people..........

It's not that. We know the rich have money. And I expect that Donald Trump or Bill Gates has expensive clothes.

I just think it would be tactless for them to show up at a soup kitchen wearing an Armani suit after pulling up in the Ferrari.

The worst thing you can do for someone who is hungry or destitute is to exploit them. After that, the next worst thing to do is to do nothing.

But after that, the worst thing you can do is *remind* them of their poverty.

The Obamas seem to be developing a pattern of doing stupid, tactless things.Just how astute do you have to be to know not to dress up for an event like this? Bill Gates is the world's foremost nerd, but I'd bet the farm he knows this.

That was uncalled for, Lenny. Why is it necessary to go there? The shoes are the issue.

And yeah, I think it's very pretentious of her to wear those shoes to dig in the garden or pass out food to the needy. It's like throwing it in their faces and it's not the first time she's done classless things. She's got the money, sure, who cares. Money sure can't buy class & good taste. If I wanted those shoes I could fork out the bucks for them, too. I wouldn't take the money out of my savings account though, for ANY shoes, much less ugly a** shoes like that.

I was wondering if I was the only one who thought that $540 for those shoes was also ridiculous because they were downright ugly!

And the really sad thing is that now that Michelle has been seen in the media wearing these shoes, there are going to be many people who don't have that kind of money, spending it anyway to get "shoes like Michelle wears". We'll start to see stories in the news about kids being mugged for their Michelle sneakers. Sad, just sad....

Normally I wouldn't care, except the Obamas run around telling the rest of us (you know, the people who can't afford $500 shoes) that we must sacrifice to make a better world for those in need.
