I never meant to suggest that I was holding out such hope. Just that, since I could identify reasonable, legitimate reasons for having chosen New York - I'm not ready to definitively label that choice 'shady' until I can at least identify the way, mechanistically, in which the choice might benefit the Administration's agenda in a 'shady' way. (Hmmm ... maybe that is holding out hope - but it feels more like not wanting to accuse somebody of something until I'm more sure about it.)

Would I be surprised to learn that the Administration/Chrysler machine sought some advantage in picking that particular court district? No, not at all.

Following up on my earlier post - there appear to be 25 corporate affiliates filing voluntary petitions (for bankruptcy protection) in this matter - 21 are incorporated in Delaware, 1 in Michigan, 1 in California, 1 in Florida, and 1 in New York.

That one from New York is Peopod Mobility LLC, and provides the basis whereby they can all file in New York. It files in that district because that is where it is technically domiciled, and then all the others file in that district because they have an affiliate whose bankruptcy is filed there.

Sorry. I did not intend for it to come off that way. It was meant as a knowing "See? Just what we thought, huh?" kind of thing.

I know - or rather, I thought as much - I was mostly just clarifying for the spectators.

Sometimes, I like to clearly define my position as squarely on the fence, so that no matter how it turns out, I wasn't wrong.

(That last statement was made for entirely self-deprecative purposes, and should not be taken at face value. The writer has no anxiety about being wrong, and often makes assertions using the strongest possible terms with the specific intent to motivate others, who might be able to point out how he is wrong, to respond.)

Okay, I'm going to be selfish here. I just hope this doesnt kill the SRT Team. I know theres tons more going on with this, and I do care about all that, but for once, I'm blowing all that off for something personal!!!!!!

As for why New York, cant seem to find a reason.

It's hard to know for sure at this point, but I would guess that it will be kept for a while. It really depends on whether or not the new Chrysler feels it is a net benefit for the company going forward. I doubt it is a decision that will be made at the bankruptcy court level - just like the court isn't likely to be making decisions about individual model lines.

It is a division, or group, or team, or whatever you want to call it, at Chrysler that produces high-performance versions of some of their models.

Street and Racing Technology - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Basically, Chryslers in-house hot rodders, simliar to the BMW M guys, or AMG. Also, GMs SS performance guys, or Fords SVO/SVT. Big difference between the SRT guys and the GM/Ford ones, that makes them similar to AMG and the Ms is that SRT makes money on their hot rods. Ive owned two of their products and been very satisfied. My Neon and my Charger bot, even after 50K still make me smile like a fool when I fire them up, hit a corner, or get on the gas.

Tilted, I know the court wont decide thsi sort of thing, I just fear that the euros might decide its not in keeping with a humble corporate image.

I understand. It wasn't too long ago that Chrysler affirmed its intentions to keep the program, and I'm pretty sure that was after the merger with Fiat seemed to become likely. You could be right, but I doubt it will be axed anytime soon.
