Who's hunting Savage?

Of all the radio talk shows I listen to - and I listen to many. Savage is one of my least favorite. I'm beginning to like the Mancow show better than his. As crazy as Savage usually sounds - he still makes more sense than lefty Ed Schultz. Here's a story about his recent troubles - it will propbably boost his ratings.

Who's hunting Savage?

"I don't believe for a minute that the United Kingdom decided to ban entry to U.S. talk-radio star Michael Savage on its own initiative.

First of all, Savage was not asking to enter the U.K.

Second of all, while Savage is a big fish in the U.S., his program is not widely known across the pond. "

I'm not a huge Savage fan, either. Everything the Left rants about regarding Rush Limbaugh, Savage really is. Someone got me one of his books as a gift a long time ago and geez louise! Reminds me of an uber-conservative Air America freak.

What's wrong with Savage? It takes time to get used to him but he's doing more than ANY radio host.
He's filed a law suit against CAIR the council on American and terrorist relations and shut them up for a while.
He's now got a law suit against Napolitano for calling service men terrorists. He's given thousands of dollars to military men that Bush put in prison.
He spoke out against Jerk Murtha and his antics.
He's raised & paid out lots of money to help returning soldiers who the government abandoned.
Need some more?
He has a few flaws but he's a million times better than Miss Hannity, of Rush the Bush boy. LeVin isn't bad either but his voice is pitched wrong and he irritates me after about 30 minutes.

As much as I like listening to Levin, I have to agree - especially when he starts getting excited and yelling. Laura Ingraham annoys me like that sometimes, too. I often think Levin makes more sense than all of them. But he is nowhere near the entertainer that Rush is.

I wasn't aware of the things you mention Savage is doing. Sounds like a decent man - but also like a radical nut on the radio.

Speaking of nuts where is Doug Tracht? The DC area radio scene (political talk radio aside) is suffering greatly without Don Geronimo.

Ingram (and others) always cuts her callers off. I think that's rude but ALL talk show people do it. I can't take her too much either.
I usually listen to about 30 minutes of talk radio during the day (switching stations) and then I listen to Savage from 6-7 and then I'm done. I can't take any more bad news. I like LeVin but that chipmunk voice....
Ah, my old pal Nino Grease Minelli! I still have a few pictures of him & I from the 80's. Last I heard he was on the radio Saturday mornings here from 6-10am but I've lost track of him. There's still some great "bits" on Youtube about him. Maybe a Google search can locate him. "and as they say back in ooooollllllddddddd Mexico City.............AMF"!

Savage is just too extreme for me - I agree with Vrai that he sounds like a conservative version of an Air America freak. I agree Mark Levin can be annoying - but he is a constitutional attorney and knows what he's talking about. ( I think Laura Ingraham clerked for Justice Thomas, at one time, too) I only listen to Levin if I happen to be in the car at that time, or have talk radio on when I'm working around the house. I could never handle much of the Grease Man even back in the day. Not my style at all.

Back in the day when I listened to the morning drive DJ's, I was a huge Jim Elliot fan, and then listened to Don & Mike first in the morning & then afternoons.(or vice versa?!) I moved away for about 11 years & when I returned, I thought Don had changed a lot, too. (I think I read someplace or heard that Freda had died). I think he sounded quite the Liberal, although it may have just been the particular days I listened.

Didn't the Greaseman die a couple years ago? I know that Snopes.com confirmed the rumor for about two hours there.

Savage is not for the faint of heart. He goes after issues, but hard. For instance, at the start, the very start of AID's, San Francisco knew they had a health problem brewing among gay men and they knew that the gay bath houses were, obviously, concerns that could only exacerbate the problem.

Savage says that the gay agenda driven politicians refused to shut them down, as would have been done had it been any other bath houses in any other era for any other health concern, out of fear of offending gays, stigmatizing them and so forth.

So, Savages point is this; that 'scum bag', a term he uses frequently, politicians put politics above public health and it cost the lives of thousands.

So, he's looking at the problem, public health and politics, in the proper context but it makes people uncomfortable.

So, yeah, he's not lite beer; he's 100 proof. He makes some good points and he makes them hard, but no way is he some tin foil hat Air America type.

Don & Mike were a great team - consistently entertaining. They mellowed after CBS imposed "decency standards" on them, but I actually liked the show better after that. I think Don never recovered enough from Freda's death to go back to the hilarious nonsense they were doing prior. They entertained me for years on my afternoon struggle through the Waldorf 500.

Mike's solo show has never really impressed me. Now I flip between Sean Hannity and Monica Crowley's shows - I think I like Monica better than Sean.

As far as Don being liberal - I can remember days when he was PO'ed at both sides and would swear to never support either again. Those silly rants were part of his charm.
