The GOP's problem is that we have been WRONG on the issues. There is no need to attack people on a personal basis as has been done to Palin and Limbaugh and Newt and Bush and his family and so on and so forth if you are RIGHT on the issues; Lower taxes Less government We're not the worlds policeman Oil independence Good government regulation, not government ownership of everything reign in entitlements, not expand them leave people's personal business to them The FIRST problem with losing is figuring out why. We didn't lose because we're not as nasty and vulgar as they are. Far from it.

I honestly wish I could believe this. Now in the case of the presodent, I believe that it wasn't nastiness or vulgarity that won the election. It was slobbering ignorance of an obedient public that followed the Pied-Piper Media right over the cliffside. The other elections, however (viz: the Legislature) I do not doubt for a moment that it was the overabundence of venom, vitriol, vinegar and vendictiveness that won many seats that are now on the left side of the aisle. Note: this should not imply that I would like to see the right, center or independents start slinging the same kind of bile that the left have thickly coated themselves in, like a sheathe of mucus. However, I firmly recognize that it is this very bile that camouflages much of the filth that lies underneath it and attracts ignorant voters like flies to a steaming pile of faeces.

No one is going to look at a picture of someone that has been photoshopped to look like a monkey and think, 'You know what, they're right, that person does look/think/smell/act like a monkey - I don't think I like the person in this photoshopped picture anymore, and I won't support their policies.' That just isn't going to happen (not in any meaningful numbers anyway). Generally, seeing such a photoshopped image will cause the viewer's feelings about the photoshopper to degrade more than it will cause their feelings about the photoshopped to degrade. It's mostly a pointless exercise. Aside from negatively impacting others opinions of you, the only things that it accomplishes are the satiation of juvenile, insecure impulses within the photoshopper, and the temporary release of some of the frustration that they feel as a result of the circumstances that motivated the action to begin with. Accomplishing the former perpetuates that particular problem, and there and much, much more productive ways of accomplishing the latter. | |

I don't think that's the intention of the point of those kinds of photos. The intention is for them to be viewed by like-minded idiots for the purposes of giggling, guffawing and self-congratulatory back-slapping. Just like the left did during the previous 8 years, with such alacrity.

If we'd actually fought a war and won in A'stan and Iraq as opposed to our policing and nation building, then things like Abu Ghraib and Gitmo are sideshows and don't get much traction in the wake of victory. As it is, the back drop of the quagmires and the continued loss and cost with little positive gain gives a foundation for sideshows like waterboarding to stand on. If gas and oil doesn't get to $3-4 a gallon, there is another sore spot that doesn't exist. If housing doesn't collapse because the GOP started letting the air out slowly instead of letting it explode, yet another platform doesn't even exist. That's my view.

You're having a serious debate with someone and they go, "Nanny nanny boo boo, stick your head in doo doo," are you going to respond with "I know you are, but what am I?" No, because it's ignorant and pointless and brings nothing to the discussion. Not to mention it makes you look like an idiot.
