I think this whole thing with Jane Harman is a lot bigger than what has been talked about widely in the media. She & Nancy do not like each other, and Nancy is the type of woman who will scratch out the eyes of her own mother to get what she wants. Jane Harman has never seemed that way to me. I'm sure there are other examples of Nancy throwing someone under the bus - and this may well only be the tip of the iceberg. And I think MORE people would vote for Steny now - especially after what has gone on the past couple of years.

| He's also *defending* Pelosi in this mess. If they were both Republicans, that would be the kiss of death. In the Democratic Party, memories of such pronouncements usually go back about a week. So it's anyone's guess, but I wouldn't bet on it. |

"I know and support Nancy Pelosi! She has far too much honor and integrity to EVER sit here and take on the awesome and kewl responsibilities of being Speaker of the House to be found out to be a lying, hypocritical scumbag. Why, she'd sooner resign that allow this great office to be besmirched which, of course, is impossible as honorable and integrity ridden as she is!" ![]()

But the question from Larry didn't include Steny ousting Nancy. It had to do with Nancy doing herself in by her actions as speaker. And, if there was some kind of underground campaign to get rid of Nancy - she'd be sure to get wind of it at some point. Woe be to Steny if he's caught with one whiff of that campaign on his breath - she'll destroy him.

Then, sit back and let her own party take her down. I'd bet there is at least one high level Democrat who isn't about to let himself be stepped over, and multiple others who have designs on being their Presidential nominee some day, who don't want to see that position locked up for the next 12-16 years. Furthermore, I'm sure that the smart people, who make the strategic decisions within the party, don't want Pelosi for a candidate - anyone can see that she's just Hillary Clinton without any of the likable qualities. To be clear, no one in the Democratic party needs to believe that the leaked story is true, they just need to wonder if it is someone among them floating a trial balloon. (This is cool - we're thinking like Democrats now. )Last edited by Tilted : 05-13-2009 at 08:24 AM. | |

| Strung Out | We can debate 'is'. And we can discuss the word 'impeached' while we're at it.

We'd benefit from a disappearance of both of these individuals in the House much, much, much more than we would benefit from rearranging the chairs of failed leadership.
