Dick Cheney: Why So Chatty All of a Sudden?

"In the last few days, former Vice President Dick Cheney has appeared on CBS' Face the Nation and Fox News to defend the Bush team's harsh interrogation practices. His daughter Liz has done a turn on MSNBC to echo her father. Next week, Cheney is scheduled to give a speech called "Keeping America Safe" at the American Enterprise Institute."

"A more likely explanation is that Cheney, who championed the idea of pre-emptive attack doctrine as vice president, knows that in politics as well the best defense is often a good offense. With the White House decision to release various Bush-era memos on interrogation, and the coming disclosure of thousands more photographs from Abu Ghraib later this month, "He's trying to rewrite history," says a Republican consultant who has experience in intelligence matters. "He knows that as time goes by, he will look worse. And so he's trying to put his stroke on it."

Huh. I was gonna say what Cheney said; Obama is dismantling programs that worked to prevent attacks.

Maybe Cheney just wants to remind everyone of that so when an attack occurs, Obama can explain why it had nothing to do with dismantling programs that worked.

Sound plausible?

Sounds plausible to me. Another reason might be to counter the 'false premise' or 'false choice' arguments that the Messiah constantly utters.

Oh, you mean the 'no new taxes' one?

Or the 'get out of Iraq' one? Or the 'no lobbyists' one? Or the 'ethical administration' one? Or the 'we're not socialists' one? Or...

Which one?

Yes, I'm sure liberals would love it if they could attack and lie, and their target would never step up to defend themselves or set the record straight. But...tant pis. C'est la vie.

Yeah, i was wondering it myself..

His political career is over.. He's not going to run for president, or the Senate or Congress.. he really has nothing to gain..

SO in the end there really is only one explanation.. WHY would he speak out?

MAYBE it's because he loves his country, and he doesn't like what he sees.. MAYBE he's a dying breed that wants to do what's right for his country, and for it's citizens.. at any cost.

MAYBE he's just a patriot, doing what he can to protect his country, his constitution..

Well, there's all that, too.

Plus, who the hell else is saying it? Boehner? McConnell? Cantor?

Liberals love free speech, but only if it agrees with their agenda. Dissent is hate, and must be silenced!

No they don't. Everything about them is group think and group speak.

Because it makes Obama and Pelosi look like fools and most Americans realize how they pose a clear and present danger to national security. And oh by the way, the sh*t fest Obama started that blew up in his face he's now back peddling because many of his supporter in the House and Senate are taking an ass spanking over it..
