right now I have limited faith in our government doing what is best for the people over what is best for them.

but would it not be funny if the repub beats obama in 12, then the dems cant get him out of office?

basing it on their luck right now with the torture investigation, I can seriously see that happening, they really are not that bright.
They should have done it when Bill Clinton was in office, he may have still been there.

Fortunately, the founding fathers wanted to make changes to the Constitution difficult, so things weren't changed on a whim.

"Before an amendment can take effect, it must be proposed to the states by a two-thirds vote of both houses of Congress, and ratified by three-quarters of the states."

This means there would have to be 67 Senators and 290 Reps voting for this. After that there would have to be 38 States ratifying this.

I can't see it getting past the first hurdle.

This has been proposed 6 previous times by:
Rep. José Serrano [D-NY]

First time Introduced: Jan 7, 1997

On the surface, it looks like he was trying to keep Slick Willie around for a while.

There have been no cosponsors the last 4 times this has been proposed, and on Rep Shays cosponsored the first two times.

as much as I hated slick willy, and I did.
I have to wonder, what would the country be like right now, right this very minute if he would have continued for the next 8, giving him a total of 16.

looking back, as bad as he was, he was nothing compaired to what we have now. Plus, he would have had to admit that his forcing banks to give bad loans created the economic situation we find ourselves in.

or a Dick Cheney with Sarah Palin as his running mate.
Bush could be secretary of state.
