I think they will let them go sky high, then add a relief tax on to bills in certain areas to help offset the bills in other areas.

during his campaign he did say he was going to break the power companies.

just wait and see what gas does. but when it goes through the roof, do you think that public transportation in the city is going to go up to equal that amount, or do you think that the states will add more to the fuel tax to offset the loss in their transit systems.

Of course they will. They have already let them increase by 50%, what is a another 100% increase to the government, especially if it (might) helps the envirionment?

Well, I would expect an outcry which means political action which means hide the cost.

I could be wrong. I mean, when has that ever been done in the first place, hiding the cost of government?

Cap, Tax & Trade will certainly increase electricity bills significantly. Furthermore, it will do so in an uneven way. Certain areas of the country will realize large effects, while other areas (such as the northeast and California) will realize much smaller effects.

The 'fix' will be to offer subsidies, purported to offset the effect, to lower income individuals by means of tax credits or entitlement payouts.

EDIT: By the way, when someone so clearly misnames an initiative, others need not justify or specify their criticism of said initiative until the initiative advancer acknowledges and corrects the original misnaming. That's a basic law of political discourse.

What difference could it possibly make if they let the electric bill go sky high or tax me and try to hide the subsidy. Either way my check gets smaller , my cash dissappears ,and I start to realise I am getting sodomised without benefit of lubricant.
