If Cap and Trade goes through...

..are we really going to have our electric bills more than double?

Aside from the fact that such a thing might bankrupt me, since electricity is my second biggest bill after the mortgage - are the Democrats really that stupid? Are they going to cause the electric bills of average Americans go through the roof and then blame Bush for it? Do they think anyone is going to believe them, then?

According to Obama, cap and trade will cause energy costs to "skyrocket".
Doubling your electric bill doesn't seem enough to qualify for "skyrocket". Don't forget this will als effect the cost of anything that requires energy to produce or transport and the cost of gas.

You might also realise that all business's electric bills will go up and they will pass that on to the consumer also.

Another thought is that Cap and Trade doesnt only apply to electric companies, but to any company that has to buy carbon credits.

EVERY single one of his supporters will believe it.. and ##### the entire time about Bush while they are writing their checks to the power company.

Amazing, in the 70's pollution was 10 times worse than it is now.. and we were worried about the coming ice age.. Now we have a comparatively clean environment and we are worried about global warming.. Maybe we need to find someplace in between.. dirty up the planet a little, but not to the point we were in the 60's and 70's.

Of course not.

Look at how the government economy is managed;

First off, your taxes are withheld. So, what you pay to the government isn't real. There is no transaction.

Next, much of the cost of government, our government, isn't even placed on we, the people. It is placed on entities, corporations, who are not citizens yet are being given a huge incentive to pursue their interests in seeking government control.

This means that, as it is now, there are towering taxes on us all that we don't 'see', just like withholding. By definition, every penny government spends comes from us, one way or another. One way, directly, we 'pay' yet, with withholding, we don't care. It's not real. The other way, companies MUST get what they pay back or they can not exist. So, they get it from we, the people, via higher prices. So, we do pay it all.

So, whatever costs that the consumer, the citizen, may actually see and feel, a bill, WILL be diffused into the larger economy; if not hidden, then very much camouflaged from the masses.

So, tax credits, government support, in one way or another the cost will get spread around so that the rabble doesn't get roused.

Also keep in mind, for those of you who think companies must pay their 'fair' share; does the government borrow money in the name of Exxon? Or in the name of you and me?

Quite honestly, my electric bills are already higher than my car payment, and that's with a replaced heat pump. I have no idea why it is so high, but without backup heat, in the winter it seems I just about go broke and it's still cold (I guess, due to global warming).

I just don't know how they expect everything to go through the roof and bet that they will STILL BLAME THE REPUBLICANS even though they're not in the White House, they're not in control of Congress and the Dems are in charge of everything - and if people are really stupid enough to believe them.

I've said before, if there was only one solitary Republican left in the country, the Dems would STILL blame him for everything and not get anything done. I suppose I didn't believe the rest of America would actually believe it.

Sorry.

The answer is; NO, your bill will not go through the roof. For long.

When it becomes a big enough issue, efforts will be made to subsidize utility bills by hiding the cost elsewhere in government expenses. So, yes, the cost will go through the roof, yet you won't see it as in withholding and other government costs that you don't directly pay for.

see first paragraph to explain question in second.
We are not in the correct zone for a heat pump to work at peak efficiency.
they were designed for places like,,, Florida.
