Activists Seek Disbarment of Bush Lawyers ........

"A dozen Bush administration lawyers should be disbarred for their roles in approving harsh interrogation techniques against terrorism suspects, activist groups said in complaints to be filed today with professional associations.

The groups are asking state bar associations to disbar former Justice Department lawyers including John Yoo and Jay Bybee, who wrote legal opinions authorizing techniques such as sleep deprivation and waterboarding, which simulates drowning. The complaints also target former Bush attorneys general, including John Ashcroft.

The Justice Department has been reviewing the conduct of its lawyers who wrote the memos authorizing the interrogation techniques, which also included slapping and nudity. A draft Justice Department report suggests that state bar associations should consider disciplinary action against Bybee and Yoo.

The activist groups, led by VotersForPeace in Baltimore, which seeks to mobilize opponents of war, drafted different complaints for each of the lawyers. The complaints say the lawyers violated professional responsibility rules by advocating torture, which is illegal.

“We felt that citizens have to start taking action,” said Kevin Zeese, executive director of the peace group, in a telephone interview. "

I wonder (if) when the "professional associations" will stop laughing at such a frivolous filing.

So... they can't get Bush or Cheney or any of the rest BushCo, so they resort to more desperate measures and go after the lawyers?

Someone’s going down. When they can’t get the lawyers, next will be all the people that voted for Bush. I’m sure they can find someone there that committed some sort of crime.

One of the key features of repressive regimes is the criminalizing of opponents.
