Just punch in her name under the attorney search tab and her status will be clear. No she has not been disbarred and no grievances were made against her. She is voluntarily inactive. Meaning that she decided not to pay her dues and take the continuing education classes which are mandatory for an attorney. That being the case, she cannot just waltz into any court room and begin practicing law again. What she will have to do is pay her dues and catch up with the education in order to do that.

So much for that conspiracy theory........

Any attorney who has passed the bar, has to register with their state bar association. They cannot continue to practice law if they do not do this and if they try to practice law without this then, yes they are disbarred. The bar association provides attorney's with continuing education to keep their skill current with the changing laws. Sort of like a doctor keeping up with new medical techniques or a computer wiz keeping up with newest technologies coming out. So, in essence they are keeping the license they have current and renewing it each year.

For what ever reasons, she got admitted in 1989 and decided not to renew her dues or take her CLE's in 1993. Not uncommon if one leaves the profession for a time, get out of the field or if they never return. So, the bar association puts her in a voluntary inactive file and since she isn't renewing her license she is not authorized to to practice law. Kind of like not renewing your drivers license. All attorney's in the state are in the system, the disciplinary committee monitors everyone each and every year. Since she is inactive, they do not check whether or not she had any grievances because without renewing her license, she is not authorized to practice law. Oh, and by the way, since she is First Lady, she can't have a job, which accounts for the court order. Here is what it says:
