"Aw ma, you just want to see me crash, don't you!".

It's actually so ridiculous, I'm stumped as to why Panetta would say such a thing, because I can't believe even the most die-hard Cheney hater thinks he can read minds.

The fact is, the LAST thing you want is a North Korean nuke hitting this country as "proof" of national security failings - you keep criticizing it NOT so you can say "I told you so" but so you never have to say it.

Leave it to a liberal to think saying "I told you so" was his motivation.

Sheesh.
I suspect this has a lot more to do with his embarassing Pelosi than it does with his actual beliefs.

If it were his actual beliefs, I think he would have come out and said something much earlier. This strikes me as something he was told to say to save Obama administration face, Panetta chosen specifically because he's already spit in Pelosi's face on national security issues.

And I thought, for a very little while, Panetta grew a bone of common sense when he went after Pelosi for her antics against the CIA.

I was wrong.

Consider how much hot water Panetta has been in since he bytch slapped Pelosi. Consider the timing; This is all so last week. Why comment at all except to bring it back up?

Panetta isn't this stupid; he had to say this.

That's what I get, again, for not reading the whole thread!
