Health care; Competition...

Competition. COMPETITION.

Does anyone, ANYONE actually think the federal government is going to even remotely reduce the cost of health care while improving quality and service?

If health care costs too much, and it costs WAY too much, then the solution is...what? MORE COMPETITION.

That does no mean bureaucracies, be they the government or the leviathan corporations currently entrenched that dominate the current system and the current cost.

The solution was, is and will be put the dollars in YOUR hands and turn loose the free market to compete for those dollars.

I think the lowered incentive for intelligent, skilled medical personnel will lead to a boost to other occupations. Perhaps thoese intelligent people will become engineers who design much better vehicles? Or, architects who will build Frank Lloyd Wright buildings for the masses? Our medical services and very lives will suffer greatly, but we'll be greener!

?

When a sector of the economy is out of line cost wise it signals under supply. Not over.

Oh, I don't think we have too many doctors. I think Obama will work to lower the cost of medical services by, among other things, simply limiting the pay to doctors.
This will take the incentive away from many young aspiring doctors. After all, if you knew your industry was in compensation decline, would you want to join it? Let's face it, really good doctors become doctors in part to help people, but in at least as large a part because they know they'll be well compensated to do so. Very few (not zero, but very few) doctors become doctors to live as if they were on a fry cook's salary.

So, take away the good doctors, and what do you have left? A bunch of smart people going to other professions (my last post was tongue significantly in cheek, by the way).

The best way to prove or disprove it is see how well the government already manages any kind of service that is directly paid for by the consumer, such as the Post Office or Amtrak.

The best way to see how efficiently it will reduce costs and eliminate fraud in the health industry is to observe its management of Medicare, Medicaid and Veteran's hospitals.

Because government DOESN'T compete with anything - ever - it IS the poster child for bloat, inefficiency, fraud and mismanagement.

If government health care worked as well as the Post office, I'd be 100% for it.

However, in my view, taking out my gall bladder may be a bit more involved than getting a letter from my house to yours.

Plus, I have this idea it may cost more than $.47!

If you want to see how Government health insurance will work , ride uop to the Glen Burnie MVA office.

No: Dont stop at Loveville or even Waldorf. Go to Glen Burnie.

If that is your matrix, Loveville and Hagerstown are excellent.

Plus, they are state, not fed.

A better analogy might be VA care.

Well I was addressing, in that part of my post, how well the government COMPETES with the private sector. And the private sector delivers a better product. Secondly, it's been running in the red by several billion dollars for years now. Same with Amtrak.

Right. But, it only costs .44!
